These tiny prefab homes, originally created as “sheds for living” by architect, Richard Frankland, have morphed into the company dwelle. Their tiny houses are called dwelle.ings. Right now they are only for sale in the UK, but with the world’s response to the current economic climate, that may change.

This range of carefully designed micro buildings are highly sustainable, quick to erect and adaptable to many landscapes. The intent for each building is to be completely off-grid with additional costs added to incorporate renewable energy systems.

Victorian Cottage in the Catskills

A New York Times Home and Garden article by Joyce Wadler shows off a tiny Victoria cottage in the Catskills.

Sandra Foster turned a Catskills hunting cabin into the romantic Victorian cottage she had always wanted.

Ms. Foster has her own shabby-chic retreat. It may not have a bathroom or a kitchen, but it is a dream of Victoriana: stacks of Limoges china with tiny rosebud patterns; chandeliers dripping crystal; billows of tissue-paper garlands.

This is all the more impressive because she renovated the 9-by-14-foot cottage, an old hunting cabin, herself. The cost of renovating and furnishing it: $3,000.

Derek “Deek” Diedricksen who I have featured here several times with his excellent Tiny Yellow House movies and his humorous informative book called Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts (And Whatever The Heck Else We Could Squeeze In Here!) shared with me some pictures that may be featured in an upcoming book by Mimi Zeiger who wrote and published Tiny Houses.

I really like Deek’s simplistic construction as it has a beauty all it’s own. Deek is also big into recycling materials and has done so throughout his cabin. Thanks Deek for sharing these photos with us. I look forward to your Tiny Yellow House video and will share it when it comes out.

Virginia City Log Cabin

Montana Mobile Cabins is keeping me updated on their current construction and letting me share pictures with you here on the Tiny House Blog. You can view a couple of the other cabins here and here.

The recently completed this 16×22 designed by the client and built to his specification. The cabin was set on full daylight or “wall-out” basement. Here are the cabinspecification: Full loft (or second story), bath, kitchen, great room. Basement houses utility room, 1/2 bath, master suite.

Located in the historic town of Virginia City, Montana.
