Custom builds and shells from Hudson River Tiny Homes

Over the last few months, escaping the city seems to be more important than ever. Out of the biggest cities in the U.S., New York City is seeing thousands of people leave every day. However, not all of them are leaving the state, but rather going upstate.

Upstate New York is a world away from NYC.

If you can handle the cold winters, there are actually affordable parcels of land in upstate New York. Many of these pieces of land also accept the placement of tiny homes on recreational sites (this will depend on each town’s or county’s zoning).

Hudson River Tiny Homes builds custom homes in the Capital Region near Albany.

Hudson River Tiny Homes is located in New York’s Capital Region. This family-owned business has over 75 years of combined experience in the construction trades. The company builds custom tiny homes on wheels for delivery anywhere in the country. Their homes are built for year-round living in the northeast U.S.

The Barnsider model features a main floor bedroom.

Along with fully completed homes, Hudson River Tiny Homes also offers shells and partially completed homes for DIY final finishing. The shells are around $20,000 and completed homes start at around $45,000 depending on the size, finishes, and chosen appliances.

The Free Spirit Model features a roomy loft and composting toilet.

Each home is built on a Heavy Hauler tiny house trailer with a belly pan. Exterior finishes include cedar siding and trim and Galvalume roofing. The interiors feature Low-E windows by Pella, insulated steel or fiberglass doors, and bathrooms with Nature’s Head composting toilets. Standard RV hookups are included, but for those cold northern winters, the homes also have a 16,000 BTU battery backup LP RV heater.

Some extra features for the homes include both lofts and main floor bedrooms. Some models even have a “Stow and Go” cedar deck or porch and step and an overhead hip roof.
