Escape to a Simple Canvas Tent Down by the River

It’s officially summer and now is the time to head off to our nation’s lakes, coastlines, mountains, and rivers. One way to get out and enjoy the weather is with a river rafting trip down some of the most beautiful waterways in the Sierras. In addition, these days of fun can end with an overnight stay in the epitome of summer—a canvas tent right next to the river.

Raft California has a private campground complete with canvas tents.

Raft California offers river rafting trips on various rivers around California. They include the Klamath and Yuba Rivers, the Truckee River and sections of the American River near Sacramento. They even offer a two-day river rafting and wine tasting trip around the wineries of El Dorado County.

Located on the American River is the company’s private campground that features several canvas tents. Each of the tents are placed on raised wooden platforms. The platforms and tents have views of the river and outdoor seating under the trees. Inside the tents are two to four sleeping cots with Paco pads that are popular with river rafting guides. The tents also have zippered doors and windows for letting in light and cool night breezes and for keeping out critters.

…and overlook the American River.

The tents are made by Davis Tent & Awning. The company has been building hunting tents, glamping tents, outhouses and tent accessories such as stoves since 1955.

The beauty of the raised platform elevates the typical canvas tent from a camping option to a glamping tiny house in the wilderness. Also, don’t forget to bring one of those bottles of wine along.
