Today we get to meet Tyler. Some would call him a free spirit as he has the ability to relocate as he chooses. He lives in a tiny, tiny house. One hundred and forty square feet to be exact. Not your modern (large) tiny houses but one that goes back to the early days of tiny homes. 2012 to be exact and built by Malissa and Cory Rogers.
Tyler found his house via a tiny house listings site and eventually purchased it from a Craigslist ad when the house was reduced in price. It was located not to far from him so that made it easier.
He has made quite a few modifications to make it his own.

Heating and Cooling: The tiny house came with a wood stove, he still uses it but has added an additional mini- split system. This gives him the ease if he needs heat imiediately and the option of cooling which he didn’t have before. He has also added a ceiling fan which helps in moving the heat and cooling around the tiny house.
Kitchen and Living: He had a friend add additional enclosed storage in the kitchen and also the living area to store his clothes. Both were lacking in the original tiny house. In the living room he has added a projector and screen so that he can enjoy movies on a larger scale vs. his laptop which he used before.
Bathroom: Tyler added more function to his bathroom by adding doors which it was lacking and a custom window that is both decorative and allows more light in and a view outside as well.
Outdoor Living: The tiny house came with a built on deck. This he removes each time he moves and rebuilds to fit the area he lives in. Under the deck he has a day bed that works for visiting friends and also a salvaged cast iron bathtub. Tyler enjoys his baths and this gives him a luxury he doesn’t have room for in his tiny house. This area expands his tiny home to a larger footprint.
Flexibility: Tyler enjoys having the ability to move his home when he wants a change. In the last seven years he has moved his home three times. He has lived in the country in a couple of places and now lives in the city. He likes finding a place to rent where he has the closeness of the owner and the community that comes with that lifestyle.
Financial Benefits: Tyler owns his home so is not dealing with a mortgage. Yes, he pays rent but has the option to move when he chooses. It allows hime the free spirit lifestyle he wants to live.
