Are you in the market for a tiny house on wheels? Now until Sunday, there is an extremely affordable opportunity to purchase a student-built tiny home. Over the past two school years, the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC), has sponsored several vocational high school tiny house design/build programs. This past year eight schools participated. Thanks to this program, the students gained experience with a broad range of construction skills such as budgeting, carpentry, plumbing, wiring and more. The end result: 9 charming and fully functional tiny houses. They are now being sold via online auction to fund next year’s construction program, which will give more students the opportunity to learn valuable job skills.
The KVEC tiny homes are now on display in Hazard, KY. The online auction runs until midnight on Sunday, July 8. You can choose from nine distinct designs with bids starting as low as $15,350.
Phelps Tiny House, current bid: $15,350

Knott County Tiny House, current bid: $17,150

My partner, Christian and I are traveling tiny house dwellers. Together we’ve been on the road two years for our documentary and community outreach project, Tiny House Expedition. We live, breathe, dream the tiny home community every day. This is our life and our true passion project. We are very grateful to be able to experience this inspiring movement in such an intimate way and to be able to share our exploration with all of you.
