Summertime and the living is easy. Now’s the time to plan a road trip to an upcoming simple living event, from van life campouts, DIY building camps, educational tours to full-blown tiny house festivals. There’s something for everyone.

Your Guide to Summer Tiny Living Events:

  • Open Roads, A Van Life Festival, 7/11-7/14

Join hosts Bearfoot Theory for the first-ever Open Roads Festival in the beautiful Idaho mountains.  It is a three-night camp-out extravaganza packed with outdoor adventure, workshops, and social eventsopen to all all-ages of van life enthusiasts and is pet-friendly.

  • Colorado VanLife Gathering, 7/12-7/14

Vanlife Diaries and Tiny House, Tiny Footprint are partnering to bring you the fourth annual Colorado Vanlife Gathering! Join this family and pet-friendly mini-festival and camp-out. All are welcome. A portion of your ticket will be donated to The Trust for Public Land.

  • LATCH Tiny House Cobuild Camp, 7/19-7/21

Join LATCH Collective for fun, informative adult summer camp! The weekend will be filled with adventures in tools, developing building skills, and learning from you camp counselors, a group of dedicated DIY builders with their own tiny house building projects.

Don’t know how to use tools and wish you did? Is building your own housing a great aspiration that seems far from reality? Then this helpful, hands-on weekend of workshops is just for you! Jumpstart or advance your knowledge on building topics such as plumbing, the components of a wall, making important decisions for your potential build, and much more, all in a fun-filled, inclusive community of builders and enthusiasts in the LA area. Lunch and snacks will be provided, and bring a swimsuit if you want to enjoy the pool.

  • Atlanta Micro Home Tours: Pinewood Forest Edition, 7/20

  • Washington State Great American Tiny House Show, 8/3-8/4

The traveling tiny house tradeshow and expo is coming to Washington state! Tour a variety of structures on display, from THOWs, container homes to modular homes and portable structures. Additional exhibits include building equipment, tools, supplies, real estate brokers, accessories, travel destinations, and recreational products.

  • TinyFest Northwest, 8/16-8/18

TinyFest NorthWest is bringing together like-minded people from all over the PNW who value the ideals behind building small and living large! Bring your family and friends to tour tiny houses, van conversions, skoolies, gypsy wagons and more.

Enjoy a full line-up of speakers and a variety of vendors who will guide you to minimize your clutter, debt, and carbon footprint. There will also be food trucks, music and so much more!


  • Taos Vanlife Gathering, 8/16-8/18

Join hosts Idle Theory Bus for an epic vanlife gathering in enchanting Taos, New Mexico with community, workshops and music.  It is a three-night camp-out extravaganza packed with outdoor adventure, workshops, and social eventsopen to all all-ages of van life enthusiasts and is pet-friendly.

  • Mattersville’s 1st Annual Sustainability Festival for Veterans, 8/24-8/25

Tour tiny houses, hear from sustainability experts and enjoy food and music—all for a worthy cause! This festival is to bring awareness to both PTSD and Mattersville’s plans to combat the crisis here in Colorado. They plan to build sustainable tiny home communities for Veterans suffering from PTSD and homelessness. Their first location is scheduled to break ground this year.

  • Descend on Bend, 8/29-9/2

Descend on Bend is an annual gathering of like-minded, life-loving folk. We gather outside of Bend, OR to celebrate humans being. All are welcome. Come join the annual gathering in the Oregon Outback with a good ol’ fashioned campout, great food, better music, and the best people.

Registration includes land access fee for five days and four nights of glorious camping 1/4 mile from the Hole-in-the-Ground, in the Oregon Outback.

  • North East Fall Rendezvous: Skoolie & Conversion Gathering, 9/12-9/15

“Come camp and socialize with other skoolie and conversion owners at a private campground in the beautiful Monadnock region of SW New Hampshire. Want to show off your bus? The traveling tiny house tradeshow and expo is coming to North Carolina. At the convention center show you will be able to find an array of tiny houses at your choosing to walk through; along with tiny house builders to give your questions to, ask advice, vendors, and seminars to attend.

  • Tiny House Summer Camp 7, 9/20-9/21

Relaxshacks tiny house building workshop/camp-out extravaganza is back! For the seventh year, Hosted by Deek and Dustin Diedricksen (authors, builders, former hosts of HGTV’s “Tiny House Builders”) lead a hands-on build in an off-grid retreat setting. Event highlights include demos and talks from a diverse group of tiny builders, plus campfire shenanigans.
