Gene’s Wildwood Cottage Shop

Gene sent me some pictures from his Wildwood Cottage Shop based in Indiana. He is considering building a tiny house on wheels but has not made a final decision. What do you think of his structures? I personally think they are really cool!

Gene says: “These are some of the structures I have built in the past four years. I only finished the first one on the inside, thought I was never going to sell it and when I did I didn`t make wages. I`m a 66 year old one man and wandering whether to hire some help or just relax. Gene Wallen, from Indiana.” Gene’s website is down for some unknown reason but you can contact him via email at genewallen@yahoo.com.

Mackydoo Tiny House for Sale

***Sold*** My name is Scott Stewart and having built site built structures and small portable storage buildings over the last ten years or so I have built a few small portable cabins but over the last couple of years have really concentrated more on park model type of builds.

I have recently found time to start a tiny house on wheels and wanted to offer it for sale before it’s done to allow possible buyers to make some decisions during the build to give it more of a custom fit such as exterior color, flooring, etc.

The Swamp Hut

Nuno sent me this cool link to a Swamp Hut featured in Dwell. Though this is really glorified camping, I think as a design it has potential for a tiny house. If you add insulation they would make a perfect tiny house compound.

The Swamp Hut comfortably sleeps four in the two sleeping huts. “It’s glorified camping,” Moskow says, however, they follow standard backpacking rules of “pack in, pack out,” bringing with them their own supply of water and nonperishable foods and carrying out their trash at the end of a trip.

The Completed Swamp Hut

The structure covers 580 square feet. Moskow and Linn prefabricated the 12-foot-high trusses and carried them–along with the additional two-by-fours, galvanized-steel connectors, and aluminum and fiberglass roof panels–to the site, which could only be accessed on foot by following a 500-foot circuitous path through the wooded site.
