If you ever needed a place to try out a variety of tiny living options, head up to Kennebunkport, Maine and the Sandy Pines Campground. The campground not only features Airstreams and traditional conestoga wagons, but also stargzing huts and A-frame “Hideway Huts”.
Sandy Pines Campground has cottages, wagons and stargazing huts for rent.
The Sandy Pines Campground is near the coast and tucked into a forest. The epitome of a Maine summer, the area offers several ways to enjoy and live in the outdoors. Along with typical RV and tent sites, Sandy Pines has a variety of glamping options. None of them have private bathrooms, so a shared bathroom area is available.
The 420 square foot Camp Cottages are on wheels.
One of these options is the 12×16 Camp Cottages on wheels that contain king size beds, heating and AC, lighting, and bath and beach towels. Another option is the Glamp Tents for Two and the Family Glamp Tents. The Glamp tents have 430 square feet of space under canvas. The tents are built on solid platforms and include furniture, beds and bedding, mini fridges and coolers, and outdoor fire pits.
The Glamp Tents fit both couples and families.
The Glass House has a stargazing ceiling.
Live like a pioneer in the campground’s conestoga wagon.
Other unique spaces at Sandy Pines are a conestoga wagon and a shepherd’s hut. Each of these spaces have king or queen beds, heating and AC, lighting, and seating indoors and out. The Oasis Dome and The Glass House both offer options for stargazing with clear walls and glass ceilings.
The Hideway Huts are a mix between a tent and a wooden bunk house.
What might be the most interesting are the tent-shaped Hideaway Huts. These little escapes are half wood and half canvas and just include a bed, platform, coolers and access to a picnic table and outdoor fire pit. Each of these little huts are 8×12 and open up to let in light and air.
