Today’s tiny houses often exceed 30 feet in length, with interiors surpassing 400 square feet and featuring luxurious amenities that rival traditional homes.
It was within this context that the Tiny House Magazine team discovered Levi Kelly and his bold endeavor to build the “world’s smallest house.”

Levi Kelly decided to push the boundaries of tiny living by constructing a fully functional home on an impossibly small scale. Using a trailer measuring just over 19 square feet that was already sitting in his yard, it provided the perfect foundation. You can read all about it in Issue 146 of the Tiny House Magazine.
Levi decided to take on a new tiny challenge with the transformation of a Japanese mini truck into the world’s smallest fully functioning camper. The vehicle is a 1998 Japanese Honda Acty which was imported and purchased at a great price.

The exterior is painted military green with black wheels, the truck remains a four-wheel drive capable with a top speed of 60 mph.
The camper is built using 2x2s for lightweight construction, with foam insulation, exterior wall panels, and has cedar trim around windows.

A solar panel which is mounted on a hinge provides power to the battery for lights, fan, and water systems.

The interior features about 21 square feet of living space and is built with reclaimed wood panels, a maple countertop, and walnut accents to give it a luxurious feel.

The camper includes a fully functional sink with a 5-gallon fresh water tank, a 7-gallon gray water tank, and a water pump.

Cooking is minimal with a plug in hot plate and Levi uses the fan for ventilation.

A small indoor wood stove (Grizzly Cub) provides heat, and is ventilated by a fan.

The bench converts into a bed suitable for individuals under 5’10”, and has storage space underneath.

There is a portable shower system that connects to the faucet and a flushing portable toilet that fits neatly under a bubble window for comfort.

Levi also has a fully funtional toilet in his tiny camper. It just takes a little work to actually use it. Pulling it out and setting it up.

The estimated total cost for the truck and camper conversion was around $8,000, making it an affordable 4×4 tiny camper with full functionality.
Of course many people are critical and think that it is to small.
What do you think?
