San Diego’s First Tiny House Village Also Has Rental Sites

Most people living in Southern California know about the effect of housing sprawl in this land of sun and sea. What many of them may not know is that there are new options popping up in the mountains above the city.

Tiny House Block is located in Mount Laguna, California.

Tiny House Block is located 6,000 feet up in Mount Laguna. It features 10 tiny homes that range from 170 to 500 square feet. Currently two of the homes are available for long-term rentals and the rest are available for short-term rentals. The property is located on 3.5 acres and features forested nature and hiking trails. There is also an on-site restaurant named the Pine House Cafe & Tavern.

There are 10 homes available for short-term and long-term rentals.

Each of the homes are decorated with a specific theme and have distinct names. The Greenhouse celebrates the cannabis industry and the Stargazer house has one wall that opens up like a garage door. Blue Sky has a king size sleeping loft and skylight. The Farmhouse model is inspired by a farm in Ramona, California.

A larger park model is also available for rent.

Sibling owners, Jon and Melissa Block, designed the village to bring together tiny living and outdoor adventure. They plan to add another 15 homes to the village in the near future. Along with long term renters looking for a creative way to live, they welcome nightly visitors who want to escape the city and its traffic. The homes cost around $100 per night to rent.

The homes all have full kitchens and bathrooms.

Besides the homes, Tiny House Block also offers spaces for people who already own a tiny house. Sites are available that include septic, water, trash and 30 amp electrical service. The sites currently cost $700 per month.
