This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape is of a tree house that Derek (Deek) Diedricksen completed recently. I am always looking for photographs for this feature and when I saw his article about “The Wolfe’s Den” on his blog I thought it would be perfect. Though in dense woods, the unusual shape and location gives you a very peaceful setting. I know I could find peace and relaxation in a place like this. To see more pictures and learn more about the build of this unique tree house visit Deek’s relaxshacks blog.
Tiny House in a Landscape

Deek does it again. Deek’s youthful designs brings me back to my Youth building Forts in vacant lots on Chicago’s Southside. Dragging building materials from the Old Union Stockyards back to the heavily weeded vacant lot to build our Fort. I’m with Deek. I refuse to grow old and square. Rock on Deek you’re an inspiration to the Tiny House Movement.
Deek, is this something you built for yourself or someone else? Very cool, like an awesome house-on-a-stick(s). 🙂
Very cool!
Is it for birds or is there a ladder hiding in the bushes?
If you take a (very brief) moment to explore the link provided:

you would see that there are some steps that are quite sufficient gain access.
…to gain access…
Thanks for the nudge. Apparently the photo on this page was taken before the deck or steps were built.
This might be my favorite “tiny yellow house” so far from Deek. It’s beautiful, airy and a perfect home for owls…HOOT…w00t! I can’t wait to see the video.
Thanks all- yeah, the photo shown was from day two (of three) while assembling this. I pre-built the entire thing in my front yard in MA (those who were at my workshop saw some of the early skeletal beginnings of it) and packed it up and drove it out to the Catskills in NY for a client. In the later photos, there is more trim work, a deck and stairs off the back, and the entire interior was furnished as well. I later added wooden overhangs for each window to further shed the rain (which I never photographed). I beefed up the main support girder with another 2 by 8 later as well, and tossed in one knee brace for good measure (although I don’t think it was needed).
Thanks Kent!
