Free Art of Living Everywhere

The FREEDOMKY is a well-conceived smart living solution with the advantage of well organized space, quality construction, and ecological parameters. It provides all comfort you need. It is cheaper than common flats and it makes you completely independent of local utilities. With the FREEDOMKY you will become free.

All you need is a suitable piece of land and the decision to live different life style
than most people. The FREEDOMKY designed by Atelier Št?pán from Czech Republic.

The idea of the FREEDOMKY was originated by Jií Brosch, a goldsmith and designer. He desired a small, functional, and comfortable living space with easy upkeep and low running cost. He wanted a house with no construction work, dirt or worries. The house in his mind was impeccably furnished and provided an adequate living.

The FREEDOMKY concept basically follows the Karel Teige‘s idea of minimum flat.

What are the FREEDOMKY?

  • your own quality living — with a lower purchase price than that of studio in the city centre
  • a design-and-build contract, with no concern for the craftsmen workers
  • a home that provides security, washing, cooking, playing, and heating
  • a self-sufficient house, independent of local utilities whenever possible
  • an up to date home which can link to all modern technology has to offer ready-made construction, only a flatted, no building permit, is required depending to the law of the country, where the house will be placed.

  1. Neat – clean design, but since I’m a porch freak, I’d have to put a covering on that patio, or a porch along the front once it was in place.

  2. Very sharp. Love the clean lines of the house, a nice looking bathroom and kitchen. I definitely could live in that. Nice job all around.

  3. It looks great, but it’s big enough that it probably would need a permit to set up in most urban North American areas unless you put it on a trailer.

I’d love to find out how exactly it’s “independent of local utilities” — there doesn’t appear to be a rain catchment system in place, nor any solar panels and it doesn’t look like they’re using a composting toilet.

  4. Not affiliated with the company but I know how to use google translate (that said there could also be misunderstandings in the below info).
They have PDF of prices ( I do not know what shipping would be, or if it is included or how much, converting currency the costs would be including 20% VAT (common tax amount in Europe), seems there is a 10% VAT deal until the end of this year, so take 10% off of the prices, I would think that if you ordered next year you could still get the deal if you asked/demanded:
    300ft2 (28m2) = 45,000 – 50,000 USD range(35 -38000 Euro)
    450ft2 (42m2) = 56,000 – 70,000 USD range(43- 54,000 Euro)
There also 2 PDF files that list how much you save if you order the house without certain items – for example if you do not get some of the kitchen items you could save 2,200USD, 2,800$if you don’t want the bedroom set.
All other items are standard and not deductible (example a boiler, ventilator).
Also you can make structural changes and additions for around 700USD

It seems you get a fully functioning house for the price. If you take into account the 10% discount and if you deducted options you could cut the price even more. So I would say 30,000 (300Ft2) to 53,000$ (450ft2) for the houses.

Maybe there is something I am not understanding but I would say it seems pretty good. To ship a sea container it costs around 1-3000USD, I would think a less than 5,000$ delivery charge would be doable. I wonder about building it if it comes in pieces and if it is complex or easy to put together.
