Tiny Floating Homes: NECESSE

Awhile back I shared a post featuring the mountain yurt that Jair and Mel Stolz built up in Golden, British Columbia. Jair’s brother, Eben, shares the same passion to live a life less ordinary, though he chooses a different kind of tiny.
My boyfriend Peter and I became fast friends with Eben and Genevieve Stolz who live aboard Necesse, a 41′ Morgan Classic sailboat, with their two little girls Arias and Ellia. They are on their fifth year living aboard and are currently sailing around the Virgin Islands with us and a few other cruising boats before heading south in a couple of months for Hurricane Season.

This adventurous family has a pretty amazing story. They’ve worked very hard to make their dreams come true and help as many people as they can along the way. What does their tiny floating home look like? Let me show you… Their galley (kitchen) is extremely spacious which is rare for a typical 30-50′ cruising boat. It’s a good thing because Eben is a delicious cook! The girls are seasoned world travelers and eat just about anything that their parents do. The table in their salon is huge and perfect for projects, toys and school work. The beam of the boat (width) is 13.5′, though it feels much more roomy than my boat. The table even collapses to create a full sized guest bed in the main salon. Necesse has ample storage, something not many boats have.

The master bed even has a small bunk. Arias used to sleep there when she was little, but now both girls sleep in the forward cabin (V-berth).

There are two heads (bathrooms) and the aft head has been completely remodeled.   The forward cabin (v-berth) can be used as a guest bedroom, though it currently belongs to the girls and all their toys.
