Bellingham, Wash., is spectacular, maybe 25 miles or so from the Canadian border. I am an East Coaster with kids not yet in college, otherwise I’d be there!

I live in Bellingham and it is a wonderful place to live – ocean, mountains, rivers and all within an easy drive. Bicycles are also a great way to get around, especially downtown. The Mt. Baker Theater has great musical and theatrical events, there are great restaurants and the boating to nearby islands is a bonus. It is only about two hours north of Seattle and one hour from Vancouver, BC. If you want to live in the Pacific Northwest, Bellingham is a great choice.

Hello! For those of you who are asking for more info – the rent is $650/mo. This includes power, water, internet and septic hook-up. We have an established garden (with room for much more gardening), a lovely orchard with 3 dozen fruit and nut trees, great views of mountains and great birdwatching. My place is approximately 12 minutes from downtown Belligham, but you would never know it standing on the property. I am looking for the right person/s that will be a good fit for my great property. This is a beautiful area, a great community of people, excellent soil for gardening and much more. If you are interested, please send an email and let’s talk!

I live in the country in Enumclaw WA. I own property and a home and am open to having a tiny home owner park on my land or possibly use the tiny home I am having built. I would like to have someone who LOVES dogs and is interested in bartering space rent or tiny home living for some pet sitting a couple of times a month. Enumclaw is about 50 min from Tacoma/Seattle. It is a small (10K)population, dairy town. Beautiful places to hike with a lake for fishing or small boats just down the road, and only 5 miles to town. Peaceful country setting, organic gardening, fresh farm eggs and privacy. Experience with dogs is important. This is not a kennel. I do death row dog rescue work and so someone that has a heart for the down and out is important for this opportunity. Please leave your email / contact info so I can contact you if you think you may be a match. Seasonal / yr round living is possible. Perfect situation for quiet, independent, responsible dog loving person.

Thanks,
Tonita

If Bellingham doesn’t work out and you like WA state then you might consider this unique situation. I live in the country in Enumclaw WA. I own property and a home and am open to having a tiny home owner park on my land or possibly use the tiny home I am having built. I would like to have someone who LOVES and feels comfortable with large dogs and is interested in bartering space rent or tiny home living for some pet sitting a couple of times a month. Enumclaw is about 50 min from Tacoma/Seattle. It has a population of 10k, and is a dairy town. Beautiful places to hike or horseback right outside the property with a lake for fishing, swimming or small boat use just down the road. Beautiful water falls, picnic areas, snow shoeing & winter sports just 30 minutes away. Views of Mt Rainer from the property. Beautiful spring and summer weather and only 5 miles to town. Perfect situation for one quiet, independent, responsible, big dog loving person.

Thanks,
Tonita

    Tonita,

I know this is quite an old post, but I was wondering if you still have space available on your property? My partner and I are relocating to the Seattle area next month and are looking for a situation like the one you describe. If you see this message and the space is still available, please e-mail me at elizabeth.erin.griffin@gmail.com. Thanks!

Bellingham is so beautiful! I only wish I could snag this opportunity.

How can you do this legally? Does Bellingham have some sort of enlightened Auxilliary Dwelling Unit ordinance?

    Anne - April 11, 2011 Reply

Good question. The city municipal (floodplain) codes seem quite strict:

Sandie, what county and/or township is the lot in? Being rural, that will be a better way for those interested to see if it is feasible. Seems a good deal for an RV dweller wishing to test out rural WA life… Though I suspect a tiny house dweller may scoff at the price.
