Developing Tiny House Community Seeks Property Manager

A new tiny house community is currently in the early stages of development in Askewville, NC.  Fittingly, this lush 20-acre property is called The Shire.

The Shire is situated in a rural setting on unrestricted land, which means no zoning or building code requirements. Though, all tiny homes must have a composting toilet or a proper septic system.

“Each tiny home member is responsible for the set up, care, and needs of their tiny home. They will be asked to sign a risk waiver and to not hold owners responsible for any liability. It is nice generally flat piece of land. The first few tiny homes will have a good pick. The ones that want to go into the woods will have some clearing to do.”

Interestingly, a wide variety of homes are welcome here, from THOWS to yurts, skoolies, and container homes. But with if you don’t have a tiny house yet? There are opportunities to build on-site with access to a shop.

Looking for a private, peaceful community setting? The entire property is surrounded by more than a 100-acres of unoccupied land. Despite being fairly remote, the internet is available. Further, fiber internet is scheduled to be installed by the end of the year.

For now, The Shire is seeking a property manager to help develop the community, in exchange for free parking. Understandably, the ideal candidate needs handyperson skills. Learn more here.
