Tiny House Map

Dan Louche of Tiny Home Builders and Michael Janzen of Tiny House Design have collaborated on a new website called TinyHouseMap.com. This is a map-based classified listings site in which the goal is to connect the tiny house community and to take it to a local level.

You can list yourself on the website and find others in your area who have the same interest. If you have an open house, workshop, or are a builder you can list that too.

If you do not want to much information about yourself online you can limit it but it is nice to have a way to contact you if possible. If you have a website or blog you can list it as well.

Check it out today!

  1. Love love LOVE!!! This is one step toward a tiny house TOUR of sorts, and what a wonderful thing that would be 😀 I’ll be adding my info for sure.

      • Kent, I think et means because his house is illegal he doesn’t want to put it on the map for local authorities to make life difficult for him.
        Or that’s my interpretation anyway.

      • My tiny house is in violation of local building codes.

PS I had to laugh at the assumptions below that I’m a guy 😉

        • Yes, guilty!
          No slight was intended!
I should have known better, as we have seem many women in the tiny house movement, some have even become famous!
Can you send Kent pics so he can post.
without geo tagged info so you can remain hidden.
          Just interested in your setup.
I currently have Scott Stewart of Slabtown Customs putting mine together. At this stage I have the option of configuring the floor plan anyway I want and if you have a better idea I’d like to use it in my tiny home.

  2. I’ve been TRYING (to add myself), but this little ‘windmill’ like animation just keeps spinning… and spinning… and spinning… in the middle of the map, and nothing I click on (the selection boxes on the sidebar, or the links at the top, etc.) goes anywhere… It’s not my (iMac Intel Core 2 Duo) computer, ‘coz I can go ANYWHERE else and have no speed problems… oh well.
I’ll try again later. Just wondering if anyone else had problems with the site’s scripts working correctly. Probably another ‘Windows’ only site that someone built using a proprietary Windows application, eh?

  3. Hi, We have 20 acres in southern Iowa and it’s all forest. We have a two room cabin my husband build but it is on a permanent foundation. We are off grid. Looking for people who are experimenting with alternative building. I want to but my husband doesn’t want to participate. We have tons of trees we have thinned in managing our forest (literally) and I would like to use them. I would like to build a hybrid straw bale, timber frame, underground studio. If anyone is interested in this let me know. You could camp out on our property.

  4. This is a really good idea. Maybe breaking folks out into categories like carpenters, equipment, suppliers, temporary rentals, long term rentals, land for hire or sale, home owners by state, building seminars (where to find), etc. A color coded icon could direct people to the correct category and let you know immediately what’s available in your area. Kudos!

  5. This is a great idea – thanks to those who set it up! I’ve already connected with a few people in my area and I’m going to try to arrange for us to get together. Hoping that a little networking can help us all to achieve our big dreams of tiny stuff.

    2. I am looking to “try out” a tiny house to see what its like to live in one. Is there a place near Baltimore, Maryland where we can rent one for a week or weekend? I’m the type of person who needs to touch and see before I purhcase.
