Modern Houseboat in Berlin

By Chris Laugsch

Our Modern Houseboat in Berlin. It is located in a bay of the river Spree with the entire front facing the bay opening up through huge windows with views of the city and the landmark TV tower on the horizon. You feel completely withdrawn from the bustle of the city with only a few ducks and Ludwig, the swan coming by occasionally for breakfast, yet it only takes 20 minutes to the city centre.

There is ample space, a generous living area, an open plan kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and a double bedroom. What makes it really special are the huge windows opening up towards the water right in front of you. You feel as if you are completely withdrawn from the city, it is really quiet and peaceful. Of course, the boat also rocks a little bit — not as much as you may think as it is quite heavy.

The view from the boat is really amazing and the light changes throughout the day. When you wake up, all you will see from your bed is the water and a few ducks passing by. The evenings are also beautiful with the sun setting and all the lights of the city slowly appearing. The entire city lies in front of you with the landmark TV tower right in the middle.

The boat is located in a little working harbour on a Spree river bay in the eastern part of the city. There is a lot going on in the area with new cafés and restaurants opening up, an artists community etc. It’s part of the re-emerged Eastern part of the city and about 15 minutes away from the centre by car or public transport. There is a tram station a 5 minute walk away from the boat. It is the perfect location as you feel as if you are completely by yourself in the middle of nature but also only a few minutes from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

There is hardly a better place to spend the night in Berlin. It has a very special atmosphere. You see more photos and learn how you can rent this houseboat here.
