Miranda W.’s Budget-Friendly Van Tours

Thousands of van conversion videos and tours are available at our fingertips. While they are drool-worthy, most of them include features many of us can only dream of having in our own vans (if we win the lottery). Miranda’s humble yet bright and colorful van tells another story.

Miranda W. hosts videos about camping and hiking for REI.

While Miranda Webster is a spokesperson and employee of REI and has her own show on the REI YouTube channel (gosh darn), her van Vincent Van Gogh is a simple build. Vince is Miranda’s first van build and came with a few challenges. However, the build is a fresh and prismatic reflection of Miranda’s bright personality.

Vince is a used 2000 Chevy Astro van. Miranda converted him with a few basic pieces including a slide-out bed, kitchen box, laminate flooring, and a privacy screen featuring the real Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting. The van leans toward the minimalist backpacker aesthetic, but has some really beautiful details.

Miranda installed water bottle holders as hooks, made her own lime green cushions, and put up a magnetic honeycomb wall, and a grid wall for storage. Colorful pillows and blankets (and her dog Nala) add to the fun. Oh! And not everything is from REI.

Over time Vince has received several budget-friendly upgrades including a roof rack, Yakima storage box (accessed by a climbing aid ladder), folding table, and a Dometic Fantastic fan vent in the roof.
