Woman Builds A Tiny House In A Tree

Deek of Relax Shacks sent the photos below that he taken when he toured and did a video on this woman’s treehouse. Here is Deek’s take followed by his video tour.

This is one of the cooler treehouse rentals I have seen and I’ve seen plenty of them first hand. Located in Hardwick Vermont (aka “Stone City”) this tree house is located in a rather unbelievable setting as you will see.

Add to that a super cool interior designed and built with salvaged and repurposed materials, a swinging outdoor bed beneath the tree, and one of the nicer mini-kitchens you’ll see (with a heck of a view) and you’ll start to see why this tiny house in a tree is rented constantly.

If you’re looking for a super funky and fun getaway in the heart of nature, THIS might be the place you’ve been looking for. It blows most other tree house and tiny house rentals away.

Before I get into the photos and story of this unique tree house I want to invite you to Deek’s next Vermont workshop.

The 10th anniversary of his super fun and unique signature tiny house building workshop, called Tiny House Summer Camp.

Okay here is the main story…

Woman Builds A Tiny House In A Tree

Here is the original story from the builder.

I have a special memory to share with you from when I was little. I used to play near the trees in my suburban neighborhood, imagining that the spaces between the roots were rooms of a house. It was so much fun!

Then, when I was five years old, my family moved to a rural area, and I spent a lot of time outside, exploring the woods. I felt so happy and at home there, and I’m grateful that I can still be in the woods and share this wonderful experience with others.

Taking care of the Earth is super important to me, and I love teaching my guests about it too!

Woman's TreehouseI’m a single mom with two awesome teenagers, and living in Vermont can be quite challenging. Making a living here takes a lot of persistence and creativity, especially when you’re a single-income household.

In 2012, I started working with Airbnb by renting out my house to make ends meet and also to share the beauty of my property and the amazing town I live in. It was such a positive experience that it got me dreaming about expanding this business.

I loved meeting new people and showing them around the area. Plus, the extra income helped me and my children thrive and have more opportunities.

Let me tell you about my exciting project – the treehouse! I bought this property in 1999 and built my house in 2002. There was this beautiful stream right next to where the treehouse now stands, and that’s what made me decide to build it.

It took a few years of thinking and researching, but in 2014, I started making plans to build my dream treehouse.

It was a unique project, so I had to take my time and get everything just right. Luckily, my boyfriend was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable about building. Together, we came up with the perfect vision for the treehouse.

In the fall of 2017, we finally started building it. First, I hired The Treehouse Guys, experts in treehouse construction, to design and build the strong foundation. The next summer, a local crew helped build the walls, windows, doors, and roof.

Then, I did all the work inside and added the finishing touches, with my boyfriend’s help, of course. It was a lot of hard work, but it was a labor of love.

Finally, in November 2018, we opened the treehouse to guests, and they loved it! They mentioned how much they enjoyed the attention to detail and the peaceful setting. Some even said they’ve loved treehouses since they were little.

Especially during the time of Covid, having a beautiful spot like this where you can socially distance and escape from everyday challenges has been greatly appreciated.

I have a big dream – maybe someday I’ll live in the treehouse as my main home. But for now, I’m happy to share this special place with my amazing guests and have some nights for myself there too.

It’s a peaceful spot that brings joy and helps people recharge their batteries. Thank you for letting me share my story with you!
