This is our sixty square foot 1964 Li’l Beaver Camper. My husband Shane and I, and our two dogs, are 81 days into our adventure traveling across America, and we will be going until we decide to stop. This has really been a trip of a lifetime.
We did a total rehab on the Li’l Beaver after finding that there was too much water damage to let it fly. We took it down to the trailer, and built it back up. We salvaged the outside shell, most of the vintage windows, the oven, and the sink. We even put in an air conditioner.
We wanted the interior to reflect us, since we would be living in it. As you can see, we wanted to make it colorful and funky. It took us about 4 months to finish. It was the hardest thing we’ve ever done, but it was totally worth it. We knew once it was finished, our road trip could begin. It really hasn’t been that hard living in this tiny space, and I doubt I will ever really want to live in anything more than 1000 sq. ft.

I love it!!
Oh wow! I love the colors and arrangement. Even though there is a lot to the decoration, it does not look busy. It looks unified. There is something beautiful that can’t help but happen when people put their real personality carefully into their decoration and arrangement. I am also amazed that there is so much put into it with only there being sixty square feet. This is very inspirational.
Love this, especially the ants on the kitchen wall. I hope you complete your journey and record it along the way. I love color and you are certainly very imaginative with your use of it. Very clever!
Great job! IT LOOKS GREAT!
I just want to say what a great rehab job you guys did on this unit and I love the way you painted the interior!!!
Great work!
Walt Barrett
This is absolutely adorable. Wow, I’m impressed. I wish you would have explained more about the inside and show pics of the progress getting it to his point.
OMG!!! That has to be one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!! What a beautiful job on the rehab. Is that a “bathroom” behind the curtain – or just storage? Or maybe its the Grand Wizard who designed this gem! Lucky dogs!!! Y’all and your little (I hope) dogs, too! Enjoy your travels – you have earned the fun! Do you have a blog?
Beth from Bolingbroke, Ga
It’s charming. I love what you have done with the inside.
You guys blogging about your trip?
How cool! I really like your tiny camper and I am fascinated with your trip. Do you have a blog specifically for your trip and could you post a link to it? If you happen to travel through southeast Missouri, my wife and I would love to go to dinner with you guys and discuss your trip. Allons-y!
Hi is there a shower/toilet in your little house too?
It’s so cute! Love all the bright colors. I don’t see where the sink is. And do you have a bathroom?
Great job renovating it!
That Lil Beaver certainly looks cheerful. What a fun way to travel. Kudos for the great job you did reviving that tiny home on wheels.
The whole project is beautiful and fun ! What kind of paneling did you use on your ceiling??
What a sweet little life you two are rocking! Have fun!
This is really cute and inspiring! I don’t think I could handle having the bugs being painted on the walls (but that’s just me) but I love how it reflects the personalities of the couple living in it. That’s what I love about the tiny house/rv living community – there are no norms to really conform to and everything can reflect who you are.
Love the ants! So clever.
Wonderfully funky! Have fun!
love the place…without the ants though. I would always be trying to squish them 🙂
Fantastic, my wife and I love the interior colors. What are you towing with and is there a bathroom?
Great job!! I love the crazy interior!
This is so fun! What kind of dogs do you have, and where do they sleep?
This was too cute for words! Obviously a lot of fun and effort involved in making this a campers sanctuary!
Love your little camper.
Is that a head/shower up front next to the kitchen? I couldn’t tell. Would love to see a shot of that.
Happy and safe travels!
Anton
Good luck on your journey and may there be little bumps on your way, nothing you can’t handle. Love the trailer! I do want to enjoy one at some point in my life. I really do want to travel up the coast of Vancouver Island and this would be the perfect way to travel. Great job you two. Look forward to more write ups!
I absolutely love this camper and your style. I’ve been planning on stenciling ants in my kitchen for years, but never got around to it! Good luck and if you ever want to sell or rent, let me know!
super cute! you’re very creative! how big are your dogs? I have 3 & just trying to figure out how much space we would need in a camper so I don’t go insane. thanks!
This really made my day and put a big smile on my face! What a great job you did! Unbelievable that you could inject so much personality and joy in only 60 square feet. I’ll be dreaming of this in my sleep tonight.
Very cool, as an Oregon State Univ Alum (Beavers) this would be the perfect little camper for me! Seriously that is a very sweet rig you have set up
The world needs more people like you creating fun, colourful, imaginative spaces. And living the dream! You are providing a valuable public service by delighting everyone who gets a peek. You have inspired this tiny house dweller. Thank you for posting here. I love the lamps. Happy travels!!
That is a little sweety. You did a fabulous job.
Thanks so much for the sweet comments! It really was a fun, but tough project.
Ok, to answer a few questions…the ceiling is a textured wallpaper that I put up and painted light blue. There is a toilet behind the green curtain. We towed the camper with a 2002 Land Rover.
We did blog about the adventure, and have before and after pics there, as well as pictures of the dogs 🙂

Thanks again!

All tiny homes should be tailored to the person living in them and if it makes this couple happy then that’s great! But, it kind of looks like a college dorm room. :/
Absolutely precious!!!!! Your hard work shows. Great job. I applaud you! My dream is to take a sabbatical and see the country. It’s something that is not yet possible for me but someday……..
I love it! So colorful.

Wow. Colourful and funky? Mission Accomplished! Very homely – being able to take that little space with you is awesome!
Kudos on the artwork in the camper!
You two, & your dogs look happy!
Wishing you safe travels! You
could write a book. Your
blog is so entertaining!
Thanks again!
That is just gorgeous. Great job! Is there a bathroom too! Happy travels. Xxx
Very awesome, but…where are the dogs? I want to see the dogs living it up in 60sf with their humans! 🙂
I love your little trailer. What a cozy, comfy space to see the country in. You two will have great stories and wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing it.
I FREAKIN’ LOVE THIS!!!! I love how they picked whatever shape they wanted for the cabinets & other “traditional-conforming” home structures/design. Just love it!
Clever whimsical use of color. Enjoy & be safe on your travels.
Great job….especially the colors chosen!!!
I LOVE what you are doing, especially as you are including your 2 critters! Would love to be one of your followers. I added my email above. We live in the piedmont of NC. If you ever come back this way-please know that you will have a place to light.
Wild! A work of art! When you tire of it (if ever) please donate it to the Smithsonian!
Utterly adorable! All I could think of with each image is ‘what a happy camper’ you’ve created…Your use of color is masterful and the whole thing just radiates a whimsical sense of ‘joie d’ vivre’ – Thank you for putting a smile on my face!
This is awesome!!!!!…..we just scored a li’l beaver same model as yours….we didnt know what the make was until we tore out some rotten wood on the ceiling and found ‘lil beaver’ written on the metal roof in pencil…. I surely hope ours will bring us as many happy memories as yours has given you….
Wow! Love your renovations and all the colors you used! My husband and I are downsizing to an RV this year. Even though our house is only 1000 sq. ft., it is still a challenge to get down to the basics (like shoes…HA!). Your adventure is inspiring and gives me hope. Thanks!
This was so very, very special to me. You see, my dad was the founder and owner of Beaver Industries, the tiny company that made the Beaver trailers. When I was 13, my parents and I struck out across country in a Li’l Beaver. We traveled all summer. I watched the first moon landing in a campground in Canada, right outside our a Beaver. Thank you so much. Would love to follow your blog. Please contact me, if you will.
