Harried workers all over the world need to get away sometimes and what better way than in a tiny, unplugged cabin in the woods? The overworked people of New York or Boston escape to places such as Getaway, but now there is a new escape tactic for people Down Under.
Unyoked offers remote hideaway cabins on hosted land in Australia.
Unyoked is a new company that is placing tiny, solar powered cabins (named Hideouts) in remote areas as getaways for workers in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Unyoked was started by twin brothers, Cam and Chris Grant, in an effort to offer a place to disconnect from the everyday, digital world.
The cabins each have a bed, small kitchen, composting toilet and hot shower.
Each Hideout contains one room with a bed, an indoor and outdoor propane stove, small fridge, a composting toilet, and hot shower. There is no Wi-Fi or TV and each cabin is powered by the sun. Relaxation items such as yoga mats, paperback books, board games and ingredients for a Negroni cocktail are supplied.
Yoga mats and books are supplied in lieu of Wi-Fi.
Each of the cabins are placed on private, rural land away from city lights and noise. The properties all have unique qualities for various getaway needs. A percentage of the nightly stays go to the landowners, similar to Tentrr in the U.S.
The cabins are powered with propane and solar panels.
Currently there are six cabins to choose from that cost $200 per night. They seem to be very popular as well since the website now has a waiting list. Unyolked plans to expand the business to include more than 300 cabins by 2022.
