Slabtown Girl’s Christmas Present

Scott Stewart of Slabtown Customs in Arkansas built a unique Christmas gift for his two daughters. Scott says it was a very quick build done just before Christmas for my girls, we built it in a couple of days, it’s a 12×12 and looks like a square, the roof is a lean to style and slopes to the back but the sides go above the roof line, it is fully insulated and was painted to look like a large Lego building as it was built to set up a Lego city and railroad, much like any model railroad set up only this is all Lego, we are still putting items together.

As you can imagine it was quite a chore painting this building.

Since it too was a present and kept hidden I wrapped it up with contractors paper, before we wrapped it I tied two lengths of twine, one on each side of the front door, had the twine tied to a stick and draped back down the front so when it came time to “open” it up each of my daughters were able to pull on her string and rip the paper open.

I’m adding my voice to Deborah’s — I’d love to see photos of the interior of the Lego house 🙂

  3. Thanks to everyone for the favorable commments!
I will send Kent a few more pics of the interior later today, it too is painted bright, to be honest we used what was left of the yellow, blue, green and red paint, the interior is drywall, however we did not finish it, just painted it, it has a layout area running around three sides of the building to work at and set up the town.

Just in case someone has caught the painting “mistake” in the first picture, I will explain, I laid the painting plan out on the building in blocks 1.5′ tall, 1.5′ thick (on the corners of course is the only place this is seen) and 3′ long. It made everything come out even, took some time to get it all drawn out, now I understand about 8% of the male population is colorblind, well guess what, I happen to have two of these guys working for me as well as a best friend who is colorblind, every block had to be marked, somehow during all this there was one spot that got the wrong color, only 1.5′ is wrong, we were in such a hurry to finish it I even let it slip past me while wrapping it, and delivering it, in fact it wasnt until I saw a picture of it on my dads computer that later Christmas day that I realized it was wrong, wrong to stay in the alternating formation anyhow.

Thanks again for the comments everyone, I am glad to see this sort of build is also appreciated, I will get more pics to Kent asap,

    Scott
