The owner of Highland Lakes Tiny Homes in Texas doesn’t just sell tiny homes on wheels, she also lives in one. After finding some beautiful property in the lake area north of Austin, Lisa Morgan placed three small park models on the property. She lives in one and the other two are available for family visits and guests. Interest in the homes from neighbors and visitors encouraged her to start a business offering the simple, yet stylish buildings as full-time homes or cottages.

Highland Lakes is an authorized dealer of Platinum Cottages and the homes come in at around 399 square feet and start at $42,000. A small inventory of homes are available to tour at the Highland Lakes location near Kingsland, Texas. The homes can also be customized with color and upgrade options. They can also be ordered and completed in about one month.
The owner lives in one and rents out the other two on her property.
The three inventory homes: Tumbleweed, Tumbleweed with Loft, and Lakeview with Loft can be delivered within 100 miles of Kingsland. The homes feature energy-saving appliances, windows and doors and vented attics. The exteriors feature fiber cement siding, Galvalume metal roofing, detachable hitches and are RVIA inspected and approved.
The homes can come with and without lofts.
The interiors include built-in cabinetry, 50 AMP electrical hookups, 20 gallon water heaters, stainless steel and porcelain sinks and plenty of windows to take in any view. Choose from a variety of countertops, tile, cabinets, flooring, roof colors, composite decking and carpeting.
Interior and exterior finishes come in dozens of options.
Depending on the materials and amenities the houses can range from around $50,000 to up to $69,500.
