Tiny House Magazine Issue 13

The latest issue of the Tiny House Magazine was published on Thursday and I wanted to make sure you knew about it. This is another great magazine with some very good articles.

In this issue, we explore some of the growth trends in the tiny house world with Steven Harrell from Tiny House Listings.

Kirsten Dirksen takes us on a summer road trip with her video documentary of her family as they visit tiny homes on the west coast and live in a tiny camper van.

Logan Smith shares some of his and Tammy’s favorite tiny house recipes. Carolyn Sasek shares with us all about “Road Schooling” and the growth it has seen during the past few years.

Christina Nellemann shares a web blog that concentrates completely on tiny travel trailers.

Andrew Odom shares his families transition to snow birding in Florida.

Alek Lisefski and his wife take us on a journey from Iowa to Northern California and shares what they learned in moving a tiny house cross country, and much more.

  1. I bought this issue for the Florida article (oops, they really did mean snowbirds), and instead loved the great story by Alek Lisefski. What a journey. Sorry about Modesto, that was really rotten. Also, I felt that maybe you “lost” that original destination so you could find the new one. Sounds like those folks are much more suitable to hosting your lifestyle. A happy quirk of Fate? So happy for you. Thanks for all the tips based on your experience, and that unforgettable photo of two tiny houses passing on a highway :-).
Also enjoyed the tiny trailer articles…well, heck just about all of it, including the ads 🙂
My only comments about the Odom article is that Florida natives do not consider snowbirds living in motor homes “tiny house people.” They are snowbirds vacationing in Florida during the winter. Nothing about the photo suggested otherwise. RVing and 5-wheeling is very expensive, from the big gas-guzzling vehicles used to tow the massive things, to the per-foot charges in RV Parks and campgrounds to maintenance on huge transmissions, tires and brakes. Used to work in a park, met some lovely people, but ninety-five percent were retirees with very good pensions.
In my opinion, snowbirds aren’t remotely comparable to the Tiny House folks and their sacrifices to live a “tiny footprint” lifestyle.

  2. I purchased the first 12 issues as PDF’s for my computer. I now have an iPad. Is there a way to get the app to recognize my other purchases? Thanks.

    • They will not work directly in the app. However you can load them onto your iPad and read them in iBooks as a PDF. I would suggest subscribing through the Tiny House Magazine app for future issues as they will load as they are released.
