Open House at the Bayside Bungalow

Many people over the past year have asked if they could see the Bayside Bungalow and check out the tiny little house that I now rent out as a vacation rental. And so, the time has come for a (tiny) Open House!

Are you interested in exploring, testing, touching, trying, photographing, peeing in (the composting toilet – duh!), measuring & learning more about tiny houses? Then this is for you! Learn about how it was built, why I decided to build it, how it works, what goes in (water, electricity & food) and how it all comes out (gray water, urine-diverting toilet system), and most of all – does it fit YOU? Bring on the questions! Bring a sketchpad, measuring tape, and camera & explore this tiny house.

  1. This has been one of my all time favorite tiny houses. It is done with such great details and taste. My only complaint is one that seems to be with most, if not all tiny homes and that is a hand railing on the entry stairs. I do not do stairs very well and need a railing. Great house though.

  2. While I’m assuming the images were intended to be artistic, the perspective of the shots is so distorted that is is impossible to tell what the rooms actually look like.
Not good for an article suppose to showcase the home.

  3. I am really excited to come by and see it! I play guitar with Trevor in Farewell to the Woods and was so excited to see there was an actual connection between you two! Not that often that you see Yunker around these parts 🙂

Beautiful build and I’m glad to have something locally to be able to size up and see if it’ll work for us in the future!

  4. Knocked my socks off with that wild and crazy sink! A really well made tiny house, although its way too tiny for me. I’m not that outdoorsy, except when the mood hits me. I’m in a 400 square foot house right now, and find that to be ”just right” — but I would love this one for travelling — its perfect!

  5. Is the bucket toilet legal where this is located? Where do you dump the waste?

This is considered a camper. Is camping legal where this is located?

Is renting out a camper legal where this is located?

  6. I can’t make the open house as I am in SF for school.
But I will make reservations for December.I LOVE tiny houses, the Fencl in particular. Saw it in DC last summer. I am a senior citizen, living alone, and the simplicity CALLS to me. You have done a lovely job with yours. I love the kitchen sink and the whole soft, spacious ambience, potted plants that wont be there in December….I will call.Best wishes for your generous Open House

  7. I just have a question about the composting toilet, do you use “poo powder”. I didn’t think composting human waste was legal in the USA. But I could be wrong. Please advise? I love the tiny houses but the toilets have confused me.

  8. I like this one as it has more of a workable kitchen size, although I don’t see an oven? Maybe because it’s for vacation? I’d still like to see more 1 story homes for us slightly older folks who don’t want to deal with a 2nd story, especially at night.

  9. I am not a fan of so called tiny houses on trailers. However your kitchen is the nicest I have seen in a tiny home. Nice job also on the exposed ceiling.

  10. I really like this and don’t want to lose it. I think someday it might workout to live in such a place. I am 72 and realize I will need less space and personal things to take care of. Being small I could put it in my yard and rent out the house. How do you suggest obtaining a copy of this little house? sincerely, Mary Balthrop
