Trish and Rich did a very odd thing. They sold their house without having a plan. Fortunately they lived in an area outside of Liberty, Indiana where Trish had grown up. Trish decided to contact a farmer friend and see if he would be willing to sell them a couple of acres of his farm. He said yes.
Rich and Trish moved an RV onto the property to have a place to live. Rich being a builder started looking for building materials. Gathering salvaged wood from old barns, houses, bridges, and job sites.
Their tiny house is 20 feet by 24 feet or 480 sqaure feet. The front porch is actually a small bridge that Rich found and repurposed. Approximately 80% of their home was constructed using reclaimed materials. The exterior siding was purchased from a big box store as well as some of the exterior floor joists holding the house off the ground.

Rich has created several outdoor living spaces. These include a fire pit, a bar lounge built from a repurposed grain silo, and a dedicated relaxation deck with a tub. The couple spends a lot of their time outdoors when the weather permits.
The interior walls of the cabin or tiny house is 250-year-old barn wood and gives it a relaxed cabin feel. A $35 wood stove salvaged from a Amish sale heats the house.
Trish loves to cook from scratch and uses the small kitchen area to cook and bake many delicious meals.
They have a full size bathroom with a shower and stacked washer/dryer.
Sleeping is in the loft above that features a queen size bed with storage for their clothes on each side of the bed along the wall. The loft has an outdoor vibe to create a relaxing envirnment.
Trish and Rich are living mortgage free and say that the downsizing experience has improved their quality of life. Living debt free and closer to nature is very rewarding.
