Solo Woman’s Custom 11 ft Wide Tiny House

Brooke lives in a custom 11-foot-wide tiny house with her two sweet cats. She decided to make a major lifestyle change after getting divorced and experiencing burnout as a nurse. Ultimately, this led her to leave big-city life in Phoenix for a simpler life at the LuxTiny community in the White Mountains of Arizona. She’s in Phase 3, which just opened but is in development.

Brooke worked closely with LuxTiny Manufacturing to design her park-model tiny house. Her design goals centered on creating an open feeling, her cats’ needs, and room for full-size appliances. So, an extra wide tiny house just made sense. Her home is also 34 feet long and 399 square feet.

It has two doors; out the back door is a small, covered, screened-in deck. Brooke’s cats, Molly & Buster, love it! In the future, she plans to add climbing features and more scratching posts. An adorable flower cat tree is nestled inside next to the full-size sleeper sofa with storage. Their litter box is tucked inside the storage stairs. Importantly, they can easily access it and Brooke can also open up the cabinet for easy cleaning.

The laundry room sits across from the main living area. Brooke opted for a side-by-side full-size washer and dryer. While this space could have been used for more storage, she doesn’t regret her choice. She also doesn’t mind it being an open room rather than a hidden closet space.

For Brooke, tiny home living has given her back so much free time and peace of mind. Living in the quiet LuxTiny community definitely helps, too. It’s a slower pace than Phoneix but not isolated. She enjoys visiting with friendly neighbors and easy access to a quaint small town.

“I really enjoy the benefits of tiny house living house living. It feels like I can sort of just decompress and slow down a little bit more in my day-to-day. It feels just nice and cozy, and since I really helped with design ideas, it feels like it is like my home, which is important. I think to feel super comfortable and happy in your home.”
