Jadyn McKenna Update

Scott Stewart sent me an update on his Jadyn Mckenna that he is showing at a local show this weekend.  I showed you a preview of the building the other day and he is much closer to completion and has a few interior photos to show you.

This building is built rustic with a quick design and built with readily available materials. It is very well built, fully insulated, wired and plumbed with full kitchen and bath. All in a small space and at a very reasonable price. Following are more pictures of the Jadyn McKenna.

These pictures were taken before all the trim, electrical and carpet was installed in the loft. Scott is asking $6,500 for the Jadyn McKenna and he can be reached here:

    • Hi Jay, sorry the timing wasnt better for you to be able to get a first hand look, but this house didnt even have the first nail driven at that time, just really got started good this week. If you get back to Mtn View anytime soon look me up, Ill be glad to show you whatever happens to be in progress at that time.

  1. I just want to give a quick rundown on some of the pics, I was in such a hurry to get some interior shots to Kent and deal with the festival that I didnt realize many of the shots I sent him werent quality enough to post so there will be more , the kitchen has aluminum diamond plate top, has fridge underneath, toaster/convection oven and microwave above, bar type sink, the outhouse style door with the crescent moon cutout leads to the bathroom with shower, full size toilet and the 18″ sink/vanity. The corrugated metal shots show the ceiling both in the lower level as well as the loft, pics are before total completion as the carpet in the loft isnt installed, some trim, electrical, as well as a little more work on the porch remaining as the porch was thrown together in about an hour this morning. I really appreciate all the interest and comments on this building so far and I hope the interior shots are upto par with the response generated from the first post, thanks to Kent and all the posters, this is my favorite place on the web!

  2. Cool tiny house. Can transform the bathroom into a Wetbath (optional).

There a way to add heating for those cold days & cooling for hot days (boat or electric heater; small AC) ?

    • I suppose you could transform the bathroom into a wetbath, course it does have a shower stall now, a new custom unit could be changed to be a wetbath and save a little room if needed.

As for heating and cooling the cabin already has a small electric heater that looks like an old wood buring stove complete with faux fire, the cabin also comes with a window type heat/air unit , it hasnt been installed yet but it will be int the wall opposite the door. A wood burning stove could easily be added as well.

      Thanks for the post,

  3. Nice, i am building my second tiny house and i plan to use rough cut vertical siding. Is your siding ship lap or are you planning to put battens on your boards?

    Reply
    • Hi Jonathn,
the exterior siding is not lapped, just butted together, no battens, the house was sealed up before the siding was applied so its secure from the elements but has the old school style look, Im not a fan of battens when strips are used, when I do a board and batt siding I do what we call reverse board and batt in which no small strips are used, for instance if 1x8s are used we leave roughly a 5″ gap between two 1x8s and lay another 1×8 over the gap, this seems to eliminate the warping and popping problem common with narrow batts. Thanks for the post and questions,

  4. Nice pixs- they certainly give a much better feel as to what this little house is about- more so than the last post before you had these additional shots. The porch really changes up and diminishes the “boxy look” in the older post photos too. Nice job

  5. Okay Scott you and I gotta talk. I want something like this for my little brothers. It will have to be tweaked a bit cause where they are going to want it there won’t be water or electric. Ummm how off road could you deliver something like this? Where I’m thinking for the first one has an old dirt road to get out there.

Like I said we need to talk. My times going to free up a bit here in a week I’ll try and get by. Is your little cabin still infront of the sthil place today? Might try and take a quick look this AM before work of it is.

    Thanks

    • Amy,
sorry for not checking in early enough to catch you before work, the cabin is still in place, I will be moving it later today but it will be back at Webb St for the next few days, feel free to call or come by anytime, I will be glad to take a look at any delivery location, we have put some units in some very remote and rough places so Im sure we can find a way to make it work, just let me know how I can help,

  6. Hi,
I LOVE this house! I think it’s perfect! However, is it legal for me to just buy land and plop this house on it? I’m guessing it wont be that easy… will this be classified as a mobile home and have to conform to some laws? How do I find out if it’s legal for me to buy land in New York and place one of these on it?
    Thank you very much!

    • Good morning Moo,
thanks for the post. I am not sure about New York zoning, if it was going somewhere close to me I would say it depends on if the site is in the county or a city, if the land is out in the county so to speak and doesnt fall under any city zoning most likely you can just set it up. If you want to pass on an address to me with some town and county info I will be glad to check it out for you, you can email me directly if you like at ozarksbest@yahoo.com thanks,

  7. Well, Scott–You are a creative wonder! I just saw someone above mention plopping a cabin in New York, which is where my “Scott Sanctuary” will go–just as soon as I finalize details. So many decisions, since I will live in it full time. I’ve gone from a tiny Annemarie to an elongated Annemarie & am considering your park model, all with your incredible help, humor, & patience. If my brother had one of the Jadyn McKenna’s, he would think he’d died & gone to hunting heaven! Heck–a person could start a campground with 3 of these! You are amazing, Scott. Talk to you soon. 8. For spaciousness:

    *Try a wall heater.
*Place the kitchen sink to one side of the counter.
*An elevated bed creates a large underbed storage area.
*In the bathroom, try a small corner sink without a vanity and add a towel shelf over the toilet.

    • Di, Good to have comments from those who live in small spaces. Real practical comments, thanks. From all of us who are just listening in and getting ideas for our some day house!

  9. Cute houses. will they stand up to heavy snow and wind?
I like the Idea of getting the dried in shell, but I do not know where to get small scaled fixtures, would you provide a list of places to look, with the purchase of a shell? It seems like some one could sell a list of RV and Boat companies, composting toilets and heating and cooling devices to those of us who don’t have the time or the savey to search the net for them.

  10. Scott, I love this one, too! You come up with the best stuff. I’m glad I bought my Annemarie when I did, or I would keep changing my mind every time you come out with a new one. This is really cute.

  11. D*mn. I love your work.

I had a realllly long comment and – just had to put the brakes on because even though I could afford something like this, still no place to put ’em …same old sad song for too many folks, huh?

Well, I’ll keep saving money as best I can and -you know, see how things shape up.

I sure hope you keep building.
    And-thanks to everybody here.
