GoSun Go Portable Solar Oven Review

Cooking with the sun is a unique experience. I’ve used and tested a couple of solar ovens here over the years. This one is really tiny but I’ve also done a review of the Solavore Sport Solar Oven which is quite large.

I purchased the GoSun Go on one of their sales. I also have the option to connect it to 12 volt and will do a review to test that in the near future.

Each size has their purpose. The GoSun Go is made more for one person and even light enough to take backpacking if you choose. It is great for cooking for one person, a great way to boil water and by solar standards create a quick meal.

GoSun Go

My first test with the Go is with some Salmon. I am using the sun to bake the fish and make a sandwich using my sourdough bread.

My prep is fairly easy. I first cut the fish to fit into the small silicone trays, add a little butter an salt and set it outdoors facing the sun. The Go has a place where you line the sun with and adjust as time goes on.

The Go is easy to set up and I had it producing heat within a few minutes of preparing the salmon.

I like my fish well done and I’d heard it can be done in about 20 minutes. I checked every 20 minutes and maybe I over cooked it a bit. My total time was an hours.

The salmon was juicy but done and tasted really great on my homemade sourdough bread.

For my first initial test I am quite please with it. Now I need to try a few more items once we get the sunshine back again. We have a winter storm warning today at the end of April.
