HGC Log Cabin Kits
The Home & Garden Centre in Monmouthshire, Wales has a large selection of garden cabin kits that are currently only delivered to Wales, England and the Scottish Lowlands, but I saw that some of the designs and styles of these kits contains some details not seen in other kit structures and which could be translated over to other stationary tiny houses.
Some of these finished kits have built-in decks and covered porches, large windows, double doors and sit well in a garden or on a deck. The company sells kits for traditional and contemporary style log cabins, log cabins that will fit into the corner of a piece of property as well as smaller structures like saunas and and tool sheds. The packages come in complete kit form with detailed instructions for installation and optional extras like insulation kits and underfloor heating. The sizes of the cabins range from about 50 square feet to about 215 square feet. They range in price from $2,200 to just under $5,000. Continue Reading »
The Smallest House in Great Britain
by Katie Davies
In Conwy (a small town on the North coast of Wales) there is a building which claims to be the smallest house in Great Britain. It’s known as the Quay House and stands at only 10 feet 2 inches tall with a floor area of only 10 by 6 feet. It has been occupied since the 16th century, but is now only used as a tourist attraction. I include a picture of me outside the house for scale. I am only 5 feet 3 inches tall and had to stoop slightly to enter the door. Amazingly the last resident of the house was a foot taller than me, 6 feet 3 inches, little wonder then that he abandoned it!
There’s more information on the smallest house on the Conwy Castle website http://www.conwy-castle.co.uk/Attractions-near-Conwy-Castle/Smallest-House-in-Great Britain.html
Thanks so much for the very entertaining blog, I especially like the ‘Tiny House in a Landscape’ feature, always such beautiful pictures!

Tiny House in a Landscape
This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape was taken on our recent vacation. This narrow boat is located on the Avon River in the city of Bath in Great Britain. I have been fascinated with narrow boats ever since I discovered them some time back. Many people make them their homes in narrow boats on rivers and canals across Europe. They are also popular as vacation getaways and can be rented for short periods as well. I will be doing a more extensive post in the near future and share with you the interiors of these unique house boats. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a tour of the inside of this narrow boat but I thought this picture made a unique landscape with the church and bridge in the background.

Tiny House in a Landscape
This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape may be more an artists dreamscape than an actual place, I’m really not for sure. I have had this one for quite a while and it has been very appealing to me. The peaceful setting above the water and it looks like it could be set on the moors somewhere in Great Britain.
A moor is a broad area of open land, often high but poorly drained, with patches of heath and peat bogs.
This tiny house looks right at home sitting above the water.
