In November of 2018, the most destructive, deadly fire in Californian history swept through Butte County. It hit the hardest in the towns of Paradise, Concow, and Magalia. As a result, almost 12,000 homes were destroyed. In May, an estimated 1,000 plus families still haven’t been able to secure even temporary housing.
Individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and faith-based groups are joining together. Most importantly, they are building quality, safe tiny homes for all those in need. To date, Alyssa’s group has given away two tiny homes with several more currently underway.
Tiny Homes for Campfire Survivors Fun Facts:
- There are over 400 Camp Fire survivors on the waiting list for a tiny home.
- People are still living in their cars, tents & shelters waiting to be housed.
- Each tiny house costs $5-8,000. Though, based on the size and appliances used, each could easily sell for $20,000.
- These homes are gifts. “We BLESS the survivors with them.”
- All labor is 100% volunteer.
- “If you skipped one trip out to eat, we could provide a new toilet or stove for a Camp Fire survivor!”
- There are many ways to give, from cash donations to material donations, like reclaimed materials, home improvement store gift cards, or off their Amazon Wishlist.
