How cool would it be to tow a mobile sauna up to your favorite kayaking or fishing lake? Come nighttime, just fire up the wood-burning stove and warm up any tired muscles or cold fingers.
This is just what Dave Jaber, CEO and Founder of Bend Teardrop, does in his neck of the woods of Oregon. His sister company, SaultSaun.NW builds and sells tiny mobile saunas that can be towed by just about any vehicle.
SaltSaun.NW is the sister company of Bend Teardrop in Bend, Oregon.
Bend Teardrop builds four models and sizes of teardrop trailers. A full article on their business and tiny camping trailers is available in the May issue of the Tiny House Magazine.
SaltSaun.NW builds the lightweight, towable, Himalayan salt-lined cedar saunas during the camping off-season.
“It’s something to do over the winter. Business slows down a bit over the Christmas holidays and it’s something to do to keep our builders busy.”

The 6×8 sauna can fit about four to five people and the 6×12 sauna fits about 12 people. They only weigh from 1,100 to 1,660 lb. and have plenty of headroom with ceilings up to nearly seven feet high.
The walls, floors, and benches are made with locally sourced Northwest cedar and backlit with Himalayan salt course. Each sauna also has a covered porch with two benches for cooling off.
Two heating options are offered: a plug-in electric stove or an off-grid wood stove. The wood stove is placed on a tile hearth and surrounded with a heat sync for safety. Lights are powered with a 35 amp deep cycle battery and a 100-watt rooftop solar panel.
“It’s pretty cool to just have a little towable sauna. Tomorrow I’m going out with some buddies on a rafting trip and I’m bringing the sauna along. It will be cold, so we’ll do some paddling followed by a sauna followed by a cold dip, followed by more sauna.”

Jaber adds that when he takes the sauna to his favorite rafting spot, he’ll just sleep on the wooden benches of the sauna since they are large enough to fit a camping mattress.
