Our Tiny Home on Wheels, Clifford the Van.

We met Clifford while searching for Sprinter vans on Craigslist in Los Angeles in March of this year. He had 400,000 miles on his paws, but with a new engine, he was ready for another 400k. We loved his bright red color and quickly made plans to convert him into a full time Tiny Home on Wheels!

He started as an empty shell, and over 6 weeks, with 12+ hour days, we slowly transformed him into our dream home.

One of the first few weeks of the build: insulation and fans were installed, but we still had a long way to go!

The Final Product

We incorporated elements from his bright red color into the backsplash of the kitchen, choosing a modern Spanish theme. One of our favorite elements is the Cubic Mini Wood Burning stove, which keeps us warm during winter in Colorado.

Our bed converts into a table during the day, so that we can work full time while on the road.

We love mountain biking and we chose to lock our bikes on the back of the van, instead of inside. This gave us more room for storage and living space.

We are completely off-grid with 4 golf cart batteries, 2000 watt inverter and two 250W solar panels.

We don’t have a bathroom or a shower, so we take advantage of our gym membership as well as rest stops.

So far, we’ve travelled over 10,000 miles on him, and look forward to a few thousand more as we make our way back to Colorado for the winter.
