On Saturday, Jay Shafer will explain how to build a tiny house. The language will be clear and easy for everyone to understand.

He will start at the foundation with a look at different types of permanent footings and a detailed description of how to build on wheels. Explanations of how to frame, sheath, insulate and finish will follow. Particular attention will be paid to the best way one can easily guard against the condensation that small spaces are prone to.

The merits of different trailers, heaters, kitchen equipment, windows and building materials will be assessed. There will be plenty of time for Q&A. Design Workshops Click here to Register Now

Join Andrew Morrison, founder of www.StrawBale.com, for an intensively fun, completely hands-on and wildly educational 7 day workshop.

Why build with straw bales you might ask? Bale homes are: -Three times more energy efficient and fire resistant than a conventional home -Incredibly healthy and a supremely eco friendly building technology -Code approved in nearly all locales (and easy to get approval if a general straw bale code doesn’t exist yet) -

Super fun and comparatively easy to build (think stacking giant Lego blocks!) -Extremely cost efficient to build if you do it yourself -Amazingly conducive to the the Tiny House building lifestyle.

In one of Andrew’s 7 day workshops located in various locations yearly around the world, you’ll learn the whole baling technique on real home building projects (no mock and demo walls in these workshops!).

By the end of your workshop, you’ll know how to build with bales, what framing considerations you need to know when building with bales, design considerations and implications, best flooring options, how to properly wire your home for electricity and plumbing so that they pass code inspection the first time, how to get set up to plaster and how finally how to actually plaster. These 7 day workshops are engaging, relaxed, fun, educational, and empowering. Register Now

Andrew is passionate about teaching what he has learned through years of building straw bale homes and his enthusiasm is evident and as well as contagious. The connections and friendships that people make during their week together and building an earth structure are solid and long term.
