A few people have asked me why I love my little house so much. I’m sure I’ll continue adding to this list, but for now, here’s a quick response. What follows is in no particular order.
I love our neighbors. They’re warm, funny, and welcoming. I’m enjoying getting to know them better.
I love how the kittens learned to climb the loft ladder in less than 24 hours and how Elaina looks like a little sumo wrestler as she goes up toward the loft, throwing one leg over at a time, with her belly swinging below. On the other hand, Christie is a little ninja. She’s light, quick, and silent as she slinks up and down the ladder steps.
I love watching the bike commuters ride by our house every morning. Logan and I sit in the window nook and watch them zip by, all bundled up and ready to face the day.
I love how the afternoon light spills through the French doors and how the sun casts a glow onto the orange leaves, making them sparkle.
I love sitting on our tiny front porch, watching the kittens take their first steps into the natural world.
I love being inside on a clear, crisp fall day, while still feeling like I’m outside. I’m glad we opted to go with the French doors because it opens up the house and makes it feel a whole lot bigger.
I love how much love went into the design and building process. Dee and Katy are amazing and I’m grateful for their help.
I love that our stuff actually fits in this space. I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to fit, but we have plenty of room and more.
I love sitting in the loft in the evening. Compared to our old apartment, it’s so quiet in this neighborhood. I love listening to the trains go by and how the cats immediately start purring when I climb the loft ladder.
I love our new composting toilet that Dee made us, especially since it says “Hercules Power: High Explosives Dangerous” on the front.
I love the woodsy smell of the pine interior.
I love being able to walk a few blocks to a cute, little coffee shop and write in the morning. I probably won’t be there everyday, but it’s a fun spot to hang out, especially if I want to get out of the house.
I love exploring my new neighborhood by bike and by foot.

I’d like to see the interior that shows the portion with the french doors as that’s a feature I’ve not seen very often on the little house shown here and elsewhere on the net.

There totally needs to be a follow up to this post with video of her cats going up the loft ladder. 🙂
Just out of curiosity, when people park their little houses on the property of friends, do they help pay the property tax?
She has said on her blog that they pay a small amount in rent to stay in their friend’s backyard.
LOVIN that the cats start purring when mommy starts up the ladder. Right on.
I see from comments already posted that one of my questions was answered. I am fascinated by tiny houses and would like to eventually have such a set up. But the main roadblock is “where do you place a tiny home?” For someone like myself, with limited means and living in northern California, even buying a small piece of property is usually out of the question. The house is lovely.
I love her tiny house too! I want to live in one so bad I cannot stand it….
She does have pics on her blog, btw, and a lot of them, too. I cannot think of a nicer person and so glad for her, Logan and the kitties!

I have been a tiny house fan for almost two years now (since have found out about them) – and I just absolutely love that you have french doors in your place. Two entries/exits make such a huge difference. I finish school this april and will be looking to build a tiny house [tinyish – I will be married and we want 4 children so I think 500-700 sq. ft. will be tiny enough). I will definitely be investing in french doors for that home! 🙂 (and a veranda) 🙂

Living in a tiny house is a sort of bliss. What I love about my tiny home is the simplicity. I have less clutter, both physically and mentally. I love the amount of light my house has. I love that I can move any time I want. I adore the fact that my house is so adorable (well, and they like me), that friends from all over the U.S. have advised that I have a space to land if I ever need and/or want it.
Currently, I am perched in the backyard of friends. I enjoy the sense of community that has given me, that I haven’t had before. Being a tiny home owner doesn’t mean you have to have your own property. That is a sense of freedom in it of itself. 🙂

Just curious, but where do you fit litter boxes????? I have an average size home and have enough trouble finding space for them. I see you have at least 2 cats and then you mention kittens, so you need to have at least 2 litter boxes and eventually possibly more… but I don’t see them (or any space for them) in the pictures. Cute house and cats, though!
