Jay’s Fencl in Philadelphia

Ryan Mitchell sent some pictures and some info about Jay’s Open House in Philadelphia, PA here it is in his words. Thanks Ryan!

I have followed the tiny house movement for over a year now and am enamored with the idea of living in a small house.  This winter I hope to pull the trigger on my new home, a modified Fencel.

Before I jumped head first I wanted to check it out for myself, so when I saw Jay was coming to the east coast, I jumped at the chance.  I stopped by Philadelphia as the ending of a 2600 mile summer road trip I was taking to view the house!

After trying to find the place, which was slightly difficult, I almost drove right past the house!  I arrived to a group of about 20 people or so and several people working for news stations, papers etc.  After meeting Jay and chatting with him the number of people grew to around 50 fairly quickly, people loved the house and kept coming!

Jay was very helpful with all of our questions.  After looking around the house in detail several of us who are looking to take the plunge gathered in the tiny “great room” and started talking about how much we loved the house.  We shared our ideas, problems, resources etc. After chatting for well over an hour we finally had to say good bye.

I had a great time, the house had a so much bigger feeling that I thought and I was glad to meet so many other tiny house enthusiasts.

Thanks!
Ryan Mitchell
