I am not a rocket scentist, but, I really think this concept is going in the right direction. However, this unit would be too top heavy with an adult inside. I have had these almost topple over because My son got on from the side.

Maybe if the center was able to be lowered at night with stable supports at each end?

Any way good luck with this worthy project. Sadly, I only wish they were not needed.

I can't help if it's really very effective to reuse a shopping cart in this manor.

Would the rear basket support be strong enough? How about the wheels themselves? Can it actually support the full weight of a person? How much work would it take to actually work around the existing basket? Wouldn't it be infinately easier and possibly much more cost effective to simply build a new structor that would still meet the origional specifications? With that you could focus on wooden structor.
