Tiny House Blog Founder Interview

I am not big on promoting myself, but several of you have told me to put this interview done by Kirsten Dirksen of faircompanies.com on the Tiny House Blog. I have put the video on the About page as an intro to new readers, but will also use it here as a post.

I do not feel I am good on video and tend to stumble on my words or not always put my thoughts together correctly. I am not good at being in the public eye like Jay Shafer or Deek Diedrickson and tend to stay more in the background. Just my personality. However Kirsten did an excellent job of pulling together a nice format of our interview and using past videos that I had some input in, such as getting her connected with some of the builders and stories featured on the Tiny House Blog.

I feel I messed up in my speech about the dreamers on the blog. To me they take those dreams and make them a reality and the posts and stories featured on the Tiny House Blog give them the courage to step forward and do it, even if they have never built a thing in their life.

You can view Kristen’s write up at the faircompanies website here: http://faircompanies.com/videos/view/tiny-house-blog-founder-cabins-mortgages-downsizing-trend/

Thanks for watching!

  8. What a sweet, quiet, humble man you are.

    You have opened a whole world of thought to so many people. A challenge to a new way of living, to a new thought, yet a simpler more realistic lifestyle.

    Thank you so much Kent.

  9. Hi Kent,
    Just saw Kristen’s video and I am so proud of you. Self promotion is hard for many of us so I want to thank you for being willing to risk this.

    I stumbled across the blog some time ago, and have been visiting it on a regular (almost daily) basis since. I am dreaming big-time of small, and my husband is now convinced. I am currently working on research to create a design that will work for us. The resources you provide here have assisted so much in the pursuit of that dream. I look forward to sharing more with you as it manifests.

    Then, one day (soon, I hope), it will be your turn….

    Warmly,
    Michele

  10. As someone already mentioned, it was great to hear this the first time and just as great the second time. You may not think you communicate in that medium as well as others, but there are plenty of us listening to you come across loud, clear and passionate. Good job and well done to both you and Kristen.

  14. Hi Kent and Kristen;
    Contrary to what you thought,this interview gives a perfect overview of the downsized dwelling, and Tiny House movement. It also gives the viewers a chance to become more familiar with Kent’s philosophical stance and approach to the movement; and how he started the Blog…..very informative and enjoyable.
    Thanks;
    JH
