Stephen Marshall Video

Joan Packard sent me a link to a recently completed video interviewing Stephen Marshall of Little House on the Trailer. It turned out real well though longer than some. It is well worth the time to watch if you can.

They are also working on a video of Mike Litchfield who wrote Inlaws, Outlaws and Granny Flats. A book I will be reviewing shortly. George Packard of curiouslylocal.com is donating his time and expertise to cover these tiny house interviews because of Joan’s passion for tiny houses. I hope you enjoy them and I look forward to bringing you more in the future.

  1. Great video. Knowing how to incorporate tiny houses into our housing and zoning laws is no small matter. This guy seems more knowledgeable about legal side of things than a lot if not most of the builders that have been featured on THB. Thanks for posting this one. By the way, his 12′ wide tiny homes are some of my favorites on wheels. That extra width opens up the feel of the room exponentially.

  2. I just had a nice chat with Stephen on the phone. He was top of our list for awhile because of his cute interiors. But he’s only making 12′ wide models now (park models). The smallest he will go is 9′ wide, which still needs a wide load permit. He’s doing this for safety, saying the tiny houses are dangerous to haul around, and making people need a wide load permit will make moving them safer. He may be right, we don’t know. Jay zips around the country with his with apparently no problems. Does anyone reading this blog have first hand experience pulling a tiny house that’s 8′ wide, no permits? Does is feel unstable? Maybe we should be going back to the RV idea, since we like to move at least once a year. The tiny houses are just so much more attractive though, and would be warmer in winter. We want to be able to move it ourselves, without having to spend a lot.

    • Lisa, have you come across an answer to your questions? I am likewise interested in the safety aspects of mobilizing a tiny house.

Can anyone else attest to experiences of high crosswinds, accidents, or near misses while towing a tiny house? That is worth exploring, I think.

  3. Old age homes are meant for senior citizens who are unable to stay with their families or are destitute. These

old age homes have special medical facilities for senior citizens such as mobile health care systems, ambulances, nurses and

    provision of well-balanced meals .
