This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape is a modern day Roadtrek Agile in the wilds of Canada. The Roadtrek SS-Agile is based on the 144″ wheelbase Sprinter 2500 van.
I have a 1994 Roadtrek 190 on a Dodge base and it is what I consider my tiny house for now.
This is a modern version on Mercedes Sprinter chassis with a Diesel engine that averages around 22 mpg. Some of you may not like the fact that I am showing this expensive motorhome as a tiny house in a landscape but I think it shows an option for those who want to travel and have money to spare. I personally could not afford this little unit but I love the location of the photo and the ease of travel and livability of a class B motorhome.

I think about these vehicles (style, not make, necessarily) being tiny homes almost every time I see one, being a class C motorhome afficionado anyway. AND it’s in a beautiful setting!
Often, fulltimers living in a Class B van are also “boondockers” who need just that extra bit of space a Sprinter van affords. There’s no question that 22 MPG beats the heck out of what my 1 ton gas truck gets. Personally, I think I’d opt to do a conversion myself using a slab-sided work van. Too many windows admits way too much heat and screams “camper” and “homeless” to the police.
Kent, I think this is absolutely a valid tiny house in a landscape. As much as the tiny homes on trailers are beautiful in construction they don’t lend themselves to travel for the person that wants to minimize belongings so that they can maximize experiences out and about. All ways of living small have their place, and you do a great job of sharing the many facets each week.
I also dream of converting a used tradesman Sprinter panel van into an incognito traveling tiny house. The commercial ones are pricey, but they are a good source for ideas. I think it is Roadtrek that offers the option of a slideout via the rear doors. I’d like to come up with a good way of extending the bed out the rear doors, but maybe with more of a tent-like enclosure.
