Tiny House in a Landscape

This week’s Tiny House in a Landscape is a series of photos that Ron Palmares took in the Livingston and Bozeman, Montana area. Ron says, “Montana is a great place for photography and some day I would like to have my own place here.” Ron tells us where he took each photo in the caption.

Old homestead off Trail Creek, between Livingston and Bozeman Montana. The mountains in the background are part of the Gallatin Mountains. Taken in late May 2013.

Brackett cabin

This old cabin I found off of Brackett Creek Road which goes between Clyde Park and the Bridger Mountains. Photo taken early June 2013.

Shields River cabin

This cabin is off of Hwy 89 North of Livingston right above the Shields River. I don’t know anything about it. Every time I have driven by it there are no cars parked in front. June 2013.

Neihart small home

This small home is located in Neihart Montana, an old mining town southeast of Great Falls Montana. The population was 51 as of the 2010 census. Early June 2013.

Neihart cabin

This cabin is also in Neihart. It is on a hill above Neihart. June 2013.

Wineglass Mountain cabin

This cabin is near Livingston. June 2013. Side of Wineglass Mountain.

West Pine Creek homestead

West Pine Creek homestead

I found this old homestead while exploring off West Pine Creek Road, south of Livingston. The Paradise Valley and Absaroka Mountains are in the background. There is a spring that comes right out of the hillside just past the cabin. There are remains of other buildings. This area is off the beaten path of trails. May 2013.

Chestnut cabin

Chestnut cabin 2

Were taken near Chestnut, an old mining town on Trail Creek Road near Bozeman. Chimney Rock is in the background. Gallatin Range. May 2013.

Same cabin, different views. This old cabin is near  which you can see in photo 11. It’s near Bozeman and Livingston. The other photo has Paradise Valley south of Livingston in the background. This is bear country. A bear came up behind me the other day while I was taking photos nearby. I turned around when I heard a twig breaking and it ran off. Lucky me. May 2013.

Livingston cabin on the ridge

I saw this small cabin on a ridge while driving north from Livingston. I tried to get closer but could not find the road to get me closer. June 2013.

  1. Scary encounter with that bear! When I’m out taking photos I concentrate so fully on what I’m doing that I tune out the world. I’ll be paying more attention to my surroundings from now on! Stay safe.
