This week’s Tiny House in a Landscape comes from Beth Morgan. Here is what Beth has to say about her Tiny Home.
I wanted to share with you a picture of my little house. The last owner moved it log-by-log from a neighboring county and erected it on 1 acre of woods. We bought it about 12 years ago. It was his understanding that the cabin is about 150 years old. It has been our dream to renovate it to the point that it can be comfortably lived in, and retire there. If things come together, that may happen in the spring.
Over the years, I have mainly used it as my little get-away. It is soothing to my soul. I’d love to know what you think.

you need to spray the exterior to protect against termites.i would also add a steel or hardyboard roof and add flashing around the chimney. add a wooden barrel and a hitching post would make it look very authentic.
Oh Beth, I think your cabin is just perfect. I live in Tennessee where I have seen these cabins all over since I was a child. I have always dreamed of my little cabin in the woods.Best of luck with your move to full time cabin living. Please keep us posted.Just fabulous!

I would go very easy on the modern conveniences and updates. So much of the character of old houses is remodeled to death.

Thanks for your comment on my cabin. No, it is not “tiny” by tinyhouse standards. About 600 sq ft, not counting the loft.
Take care of your logs. Proper chinking is a must and there are some great latex based products out these days which will expand and contract with the weather changes. I would also recommend using a Borax based product for treating your logs. Usually they mix with plain water and can be applied with a garden sprayer. From the looks of your photos, I would bet there are powder post beetles and termites where you live. Both can be treated with this product and save your logs. It’s a beautiful cabin, I have 4 of my own and never tire of seeing something this old still standing. Enjoy it.

What a treasure…I pray you will have many years ahead in your lovely home and setting. My husband and I had one and had to sell and move out of the snowy mountains because of health reasons. I miss it terribly. God bless your future!
