Dan Kitchen says: I believe Shorpy has been used here in the past, but I just saw this today just after reading your blog and thought it was appropriate. I call it Overnight Parking in 1936.
Photographed in March 1936, somewhere in Georgia. “Tourist cabins.” Medium-format nitrate negative by Walker Evans for the Resettlement Administration.

Beautiful photography – ah the days of black and white film 🙂
Walker Evans is one of my all-time favorite photographers. He did beautiful work, most of it during the Great Depression, and most of if for the government. How cool to see his work today, on this blog! If anyone is interested in seeing more of his work, here’s a link to Google Images… http://www.google.com/search?q=Walker+Evans&tbo=u&tbm=isch&biw=1514&bih=1384
You said what I was going to say! Thanks.
And thanks, Kent and Dan, for this post.
Showing my age, but I actually remember staying in cottages similar to these, forerunner of our current motels. Memories.
Loved seeing this. Think they’re terrific tiny home concept.
