Yes, this house is near the village of Oia, in Santorini, Greece, which is part of Europe, last time I checked. However, it is not “a mix of the old and the modern” but rather a pretty typical example of the vernacular.

There is another interesting tiny house type particular to this volcanic island: the cave-dwellings. They are burrows dug into the cliff-face, which a single built wall sealing the mouth. Some examples are here: http://www.greek-islands.us/santorini/cave-houses/

Kent – I love this picture! It’s so beautiful. Can you imagine living in this small home? It must be incredibly peaceful. This really makes me realize how much of the world that I haven’t seen….Thanks for sharing this.
