Tiny House in a Landscape

I always enjoy it when a reader sends in a photograph for the Tiny House in a Landscape feature. There is no guessing on where it came from or if it is copyrighted. Plus it shows me that you are looking for this type of photo to share here on the Tiny House Blog. This weeks photo is from Thomas Boldt who took the photograph in Newfoundland.

I’ve attached a couple of pictures. We’ve hiked the East Coast trail in Newfoundland a couple of years back and walked through the old fishing villages.

Newfoundland

This house is a typical traditional Newfoundland home, it’s situated near Tors Cove. Nowadays of course they build big cardboard mortgage prisons like everyone else.

The place is quite small, I don’t think the door was higher than 6 feet.

Thank you for sharing Thomas! If you have a photograph to share please send it to tinyhouseblog @ gmail.com.

I’ve got a summer trip to Newfoundland coming up. In my research I’ve come across this house a good bit. In fact, here it is on the homepage!

Tiny pink house is what I see and that looks so lovely but I have a growing family of grand kids and if they should all come to visit at the came time whoo and behold we would know what it is like to be Little ol’ woman whom live in a shoe she had so many children she did not know what to do…. Ah I guess they would have to just bring their tents…..

Newfoundland is the place to live simply and in harmony with Mother Nature; she’s quite dramatic out there though! 😉

Jo, I am very interested in hearing about your Newfoundland trip when you return. I am actually looking at moving to one of the St. John’s suburbs when I retire. Any impressions you have, I would be so happy to hear about them. Would that be okay?

Thanks so much — Irene

LOVE Newfoundland and all the small villages & homes. Have family there and love to visit.

Two most important feature in all of these homes:
1. Small designs so they are easy to heat in the winter.
2. Great room = living room, kitchen & dining room all together! This is where a traditional Kitchen Party occurs, lots of food, singing, playing instruments and laughing with family & friends.

Cheers,
Garnet

“Big cardboard mortgage prisons” – honestly? That’s hardly the way to win folks over to the small home mentality!

Cute house, nonetheless.
