Guest Post by Michael Chandler of North Carolina
I thought you might enjoy these images of my little curved wall tiny house my daughter and I built in our back yard here in North Carolina.
Given the romantic setting and excessive glazing I figured a loud door bell might be appropriate… the door post makes a good place to lean my kayak paddle on my way back from the river.
The chimney vent has a crushed brass mesh core that includes a short section of rope light connected to a touch dimmer remote wired to a copper tray next to the door. Touch the tray once and the light comes on dim, three taps sets it to bright and one more turns it off. A wall switch just wouldn’t have fit the vibe. All wiring is concealed, the chimney just magically glows when you touch the tray.
This chair draws me after work or after a run on the creek. it’s nice to just sit and look down from the edge of the rocks.No Facebook. Turtles, heron, young fox cub, the call of the kingfisher, cicadas and bull frogs. a copper tray keeps my beverage upright on the rocks.
Oh wow that is too cool.
~~~ Cool Little Kick Back Place !
What is this made of? It almost looks paper mache-ish. I know it cant be.
Now THIS is the kinda stuff I love- weird, funky, outlandish- and well, just bad-ass! Would love to interview them….heck, would love to film this thing sometime…
I assume the large window is a recycled glass-outdoor table top?
This is a neat and natural little hidey-hole in the woods, NICE BIG viewing port (ok, a window) I totally like the chimney technology! annnd near the river to kayak…wow!Good bonding with your daughter too, NO down side here!
Very cool. Love the chimney vent/light idea. Please share when the vines have grown. As to the roof… 1 vote for ‘all of the above’ 😉
Nice building…looks like a sweet place to get away from it all. Homemade paddle??? Love it !
Super cool and original space. Looks so relaxing! Also enjoyed the construction post on this.
AH Moon flower they smell so sweet they would look really nice cascading down the bean.Nice little hole to hit in to when it starts to down pour. Looks like its made from fiberglass type o f material… I would of made the door go under the lip though to keep the rain from being able to get in.
Lovely way to unplug. Nice job! Perfect for a NC trout stream. Hope you are on one.
