by Kent Griswold on December 1st, 2011. 4 Comments

Texas Tiny Houses contacted me to remind you that the deadline is drawing near to enter their Tiny House Contest. December 3 is the cutoff date so if you plan to enter please do it soon. Here is a quote from their entry page:

December 3rd, 2011 is the final deadline, so sharpen your wits and get that essay in if you have not done it yet but have been dreaming of the possibilities.

Thanks for being part of this inspirational offering that hopefully will seed great things in everyone’s lives just through the positive visualization and realization that they can help inspire others to do something like this in their parts of the country too. Thanks for being a part of the dialogue that may help make the transition to Pure Salvage Living possible.

A new article on Tiny Texas Houses and the tiny house movement hit the presses yesterday. Tiny Texas Houses are built from salvaged and renewable materials. These beautiful little homes show how old items can be reused and made into something new.

The article shows how people who have bought these homes use them for different purposes, from homes to art studios. Read the original article at statesman.com.

Not Everything is Bigger in Texas

More publicity for the “Tiny House Movement.”

A new tiny house article written by: Amy R. Hughes of This Old House Magazine.

In 2006 Brad Kittel expanded his salvage business, Discovery Architectural Antiques, in Gonzales, Texas, to include diminutive, one-of-a-kind houses built almost exclusively out of the vintage materials he stockpiles; typically only the plumbing, electrical systems, and insulation are new. Each one of his Tiny Texas Houses evokes a period style, whether it’s a Queen Anne dripping with gingerbread trim or a gambrel-roofed Dutch Colonial.
