Tiny House in a Landscape
This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape was also submitted by Hap who shared with us the unique landscape on a tiny house last week. This one is called “cabin in autumn light Wim Lassche. You can view his portfolio here.
The predominant elements in Wim’s photos are light and atmosphere. Each image tells a story, sets a mood and transports you to a far away world of dreams. Norway is blessed with beautiful movie set like light for great parts of the year. This is evident in Wim’s images. Nowhere to be seen are photos taken under clear skies during the middle of the day. Powerful skies and almost biblical quality light predominate his collection.

Hap Mullenneaux sent me a link to this photo and suggested that it should be called “Little House is a Landscape.” This house is located in Norway where green turf roofs are very common.
For hundreds of years houses in Norway have been covered with turf. And they come in different varieties. Some are bright green and almost velvety. Others are golden and look like they’re growing wheat or oats. A number of turf roofs have flowers mixed in with the grass, and a few have small trees.
The advantages of turf roofs (also called sod roofs) are many. They are very heavy, so they help to stabilize the house; they provide good insulation; and they are long-lasting.

This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape was sent to me by Nederland and is a picture taken very recently in Colorado. I’ll let Nederland tell you about it.
This is a tiny old log cabin in the town of St. Elmo, Colorado. Pop. 3 during the winter, more in the summer. It was a fine fall day as the aspen were turning in September, 2010.
Tiny House in a Landscape
This Tiny House in a Landscape features two of my favorite things when it comes to my own personal photography. I love shooting landscapes on a day when blue sky and big fluffy clouds abound. The contrast always makes for a beautiful picture.
One of my other favorite items to photograph are flowers and this pictures uses a wide angle lens to get up close to the flowers and lead your eye to the main subject, the little house. What a peaceful setting to relax and enjoy life.

Tiny House in a Landscape
This tiny house has such a fantastic perspective as it peaks out of this mountainside. The view must be spectacular and I like the little porch hanging over the drop down the hillside.
This appears to be somewhere on the east coast where the fall colors are spectacular this time of year. We are getting just a bit of color here in Northern California and our one tree in the back yard has turned quite orange and is dropping leaves. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.
Tiny House in a Landscape
This weeks Tiny House in a Landscape is a small log cabin beside a meadow and a small pond. A very peaceful setting in which I would enjoy spending some time. I wish the picture was larger but this will have to do. I don’t know the location but it looks like it is in the foothills of a peaceful mountain setting.
Where do you think it is and can you track down any more information about this photo?

Tiny House in a Landscape
Somewhere in the wilds of Canada this cute little cabin resides. This little cabin is still under construction and I hope to share more pictures with you when it is completed. The owners thought this picture would be perfect for the Tiny House in a Landscape feature and I agree.
Built deep in the woods, surrounded by trees with light filtering through the treetops, it is a peaceful setting to sit back and dream. If you do not have a place like this for yourself, use the picture to encourage your dream and maybe someday it will happen to you.
