Tinier Living Update

by Kent Griswold

Dan Louche over at Tiny Home Builders has been busy working on his latest project called Tinier Living. He has just installed the windows and next is the door, the siding, and then the roof.

The entrance to the house is situated at the back of the trailer where you enter into a smaller family room with vaulted ceilings that is the perfect size for a small desk and a couch. Beyond the family room are a full kitchen and a bathroom consisting of a 36 inch shower and a toilet. Above you’ll find a spacious 7 foot sleeping loft. Large dormers run almost the entire length of the house which provides an open feel in both the family room and the loft.

The total length of the house is 12 feet making it extremely easy to move.

As you can see Dan is still in the process of building this home but he already has the plans available to purchase. Dan is giving readers of the Tiny House Blog a special price. He created a coupon to give you $30 off the plan package (plans which includes his book.) Here is how it works:

  1. Click on this link to go to his plans sales page.
  2. Click Add To Cart. A window will pop up and you will see a place for a discount code.
  3. Enter: tinyhouseblog You will than receive the $30 discount.

Thank you Dan and I can’t wait to showcase your completed Tinier Living home.

  1. I recently quit hauling scrap metal for extra metal, so had my trailer and 1 ton truck listed on Craigslist. I was so pleased to get a call from a young couple in Wheeler on the Oregon Coast who wanted it to use the trailer to build a tiny house and BONUS a 79 GMC to move it with!

  2. I really like the looks of this one. Can’t wait to see it finished off. Be sure to include interior shots so we can have a look at the floor plan. Great job! 🙂

  3. I noticed that you are using standard felts,on your roof, roofing felts are a joke.Go and get some GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD in HT300,the HT stands for high temp.Run this up the walls,so if the roof step flashings leak this product will waterproof, even low sloped shingles. This product you can Ice and Water Shield the roof today and drywall the interior next thing. When the panel roof shows up nothing has water damage or mold to start your project. The high temp.is for the heat that builds up under the panel,it will melt lesser brands in high heat.

  4. Dan,

This looks like a great model. I have been struggling with “the law” over the past couple years, trying to budget for well, water, septic, and be a “good developer.” But now I am thinking I will simply put a house on the land and enjoy it, before I get old and decrepit. I really like the looks of this house and think that it could easily be towed to a spot or two I have in mind.

I would like to ask you a couple more questions, when you have a some time available.

    Best,
    David
