Last January I covered Zack Griffin and the beginning of his tiny house adventure visiting the great ski areas with several friends across North America. Here is the link.
Zack recently contacted me and here is what he had to say:
Last year I built a Tiny House in order to go on a ski trip! Along with my girlfriend, brother, and two other friends we took the house all over the western United States and into Canada, over 9000 miles. We had the time of our lives! My brother made a movie that I wanted to share with you. I hope you enjoy it!

I love the videos. Good background tunes, personalities, narrative, construction process, spiral stairs, rustic Americana and love for all things outdoors.
I’m a life long customer of Patagonia but in recent years, I’ve noticed a decline in quality and durability. This could be attributed to recycled fabrics or outsourcing to China. While their Customer Service is pretty top notch, I’m not that impressed with their more recent offerings like their Down Sweaters.
I’ve never owned Outdoor Research products before but since watching the videos, I’m very much intrigued and would strongly consider buying from them.

Sounds idyllic going on a ski-tour with a tiny house… That’s what I plan to do as soon as I manage to build my own! Just need Ireland to snow a lot more during the winter… hmm.
You COULD wait for Ireland to snow more.
Or you could go on a road trip across Europe that ended(?) with the Alps! Dream big 🙂

What a fantastic tiny house. Having said that i think at least a toilet should have been built in. But otherwise , one great house. Sorry about Rusty. great film. congrat’s. we need to see more of these awsome homes.

I’m a tropical brother, and cannot handle the cold weather much, however I do find your little adventure inspiring. If I was that young again, I would be all over doing something like this as well. I’m currently converting my 6X12 DooLittle cargo trailer into a camper but without a bathroom either. I am leaving a spot for it in case I decide later to add it in.
By the way, how did you get the Tiny House back or did you choose to abandon it in a parking lot in Canada?

Wonderful story of what must have been an awesome trip, even with the mechanical breakdowns. Not a skier myself, but having lived in Silverton for a month, in the railway depot, I can relate to the area. I’m curious as to what equipment was used for producing the video? Thanks for sharing.
Wow – excellent documentary (mini-mentary? adventure-mentary?). I’m trying to force my mind away from all the obvious questions and simply enjoy the dream. They look like incredible skiers and someone is an amazing videographer. I enjoyed every minute of that video!
What an amazing story and experience. The movie is so well done…I was there! The mountain segments are awesome and beyond beautiful. Canada is lovely and we can usually guarantee snow. In fact, we had about an inch of pretty powder fall on us today here in Winnipeg.

I really like the stair case. So cool because it dubbs as a seat and it beats a ladder any day. How did the house make it home after rusty D died?
Fantastic cinematography! Left me feeling exhilarated and thinking of adventure. I especially appreciate that you included clips of difficulties encountered. The soundtrack was perfect for the story and I hope to see a sequel.
Have been buying OR for years and like the added features they put into items for less than I would pay for trendier brands.

Great film, makes me wish I was 25 years younger, I build an 8 x 20 tiny house called the Duck Shack. We pulled it to Arkansas from Ky. for the hunting season. I got 6 mpg in my F-150, I wondered how thirsty Rusty was on your trip?
